    Rubbish.
Calzaghe had Hopkins going backwards throughout.
Other than a flash KD when Calzaghe was square on and a punch after a headbutt in round 7 (a round Calzaghe clearly won) tell me all of these other punches Hopkins supposedly landed? Calzaghe dominated

I also felt that Calzaghe won, but he by no means dominated. It was pretty close.

I had a sensible chuckle at this.

That must make me some kind of Eddie Futch level boxing genius.

That's not a problem at all tbh.

Only Jones and Kovalev had clear victories over him. Jones is an ATG, Kovalev could well be one if he can beat Ward and Stevenson.

Taylor and Calzaghe both scored very close victories over him. Easily could have gone the other way.

So basically I don't think it impedes his greatness at all.

LOL, Fury is not the 2nd best fighter Wlad foguht. Not even close. The division the Klits dominated for a decade is better than the division now. They ducked no one. Fury was unavailable for the re-match and Lewis opted out.

    This thread is madness.

'As I said before I think the totality of his career is good enough for the hall of fame, but the Popkins isn't a top 10 ATG at any weight class and is a bit over rated.'

Some people actually have to question whether he is HOF worthy? He will sail through and so he should. Not the most entertaining fighter and too dirty at times but his greatness can't be denied. Better record than Calzaghe for starters and a whole load of others sitting pretty in the hof. Not sure where I'd have him in my top 10 middleweight but I can make a case for him getting in. Trouble is that he's fought for so long, I think some people forget what he could do in his early-late 30's. Not a big fan of his but he could really fight.

Everybody loses and they usually lose to the best fighters they face, that's pretty much a given for anyone including greats.

Yes he lost to Jones Jr, Calzaghe, Kovalev and Taylor but he beat Roy in the rematch and also schooled the guy that first KO'ed Roy. Hopkins also schooled Pavlik a guy who twice beat Taylor, so is Taylor one of the best middleweights Hopkins fought or was Pavlik better considering he beat him twice and if Pavlik was better which seems likely given the results of their fights then this invalidates your idea couldn't beat the best at 160-175lbs fighters he fought.

The Calzaghe fight was close and he was passed his prime, he was even more passed his prime against Kovalev are we now using fights where the fighter is almost a decade or more past his physical prime as a way of judging a fighters worth?

Let's not forget, Hopkins was the betting underdog against Toto Trinidad , and many were hyping Toto as a monster who was going to stop 'Nard and end up the undisputed Middleweight champion.

Yep you have it right,I know we get on at Andre Ward for some of his tactics but Hopkins is in another league and even tried in last ever fight to pull one over on everyone by trying to get a no contest like he done in the past, when he stepped up he usually got beat is the truth which is not something we can ever aim at Mayweather.

Calzaghe whooped him on hopkins' home turf. Even the one blind judge and idiot ref couldn't help hopkins. Every serious analyst had it for Joe, only morons like yourself claim otherwise.

I felt Hopkins would win that one, and he did. Tito was mostly a welter with a very good left hook. Hopkins took it away, and mixed in some kidney shots that the ref could not see. So he won, but the foul tactics tarnished the victory.
