you cannot deny Jones was good. Jones had better reflexes than Hopkins but Hopkins seems to use experience as his best strength. Jones never had to use experience since he had those great reflexes.

    That fight WAS extremely boring.

If memory serves, that was the fight where Larry Merchant duly noted that it was more exciting watching Congressmen argue over the budget on C-SPAN.

considering Jones only started to diminish @ 35 after 51 fights, i dont think thats bad!!

i bet alot of ATH could have lasted and retained performance after 35 yrs of age

    Larry Merchant on Jones-Hopkins

"Thank goodness that there's a draft in this place or else I would've fallen asleep."

Just watched his 5th pro fight against Mercado. Mercado's initial dance partner canceled, then the short notice opponent canceled, so they called in Hopkins with four hours notice to get from Philly to Rochester where he got the crowd on its feet and cheering him on.

Funny, his left hand was better than his right in the old days.

I've always loved how Hopkins throws his lead hook. He moves his entire body with the shot and it always seems like his hand never gets more than a foot from his head.
