In all the recent talk I've been hearing about this fight and Stevenson's jump to Showtime, it seems to me that a lot of people are taking it for granted that Hopkins is going to win this fight fairly handily. People are already widely talking about a Stevenson-Hopkins 3-belt unification like its a done deal.

Maybe I'm just way off on this one, but I think Shumenov has a very good chance in this fight. Enough so that I almost think of him as the favorite. Shumenov is no Karo Murat. He is a thinker in the ring and has solid (albeit not spectacular) power in both hands. Hopkins continues to age and looked sloppy in his last fight.

I feel like I'm losing my mind with this almost unanimous brushing-off of Shumenov in this fight. Am I missing something? Or does anyone else think Hopkins may be at the end of the line with this one?

I myself have made 2 threads stating that Shumenov will dominate Hopkins but everybody replied with the same line "Hopkins will school Shumenov for a wide UD."

Hopkins does not plan on beating Shumenov, he plans to cheat with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission in Washington, DC. No European should ever fight there. Khan was cheated there as well...............the only referee worst than Laurence Cole. Hopkins plans to just cover up, take punches on his gloves, he knows the right is rigged in his favor or he would never have taken the fight in the first place. Should have been in a neutral area, with neutral judges, referee, and boxing commission..............

Shumenov has no chance. Even if he is winning he will end up losing. If he somehow beats Hopkins in DC a full blown riot will ensue. SHumenov is risking everything fighting in that jungle. bad move indeed.

I can agree with you on that. Not sure where this dismissal of Shumenov would be coming from.

It's cause he's fought nobody since Campillo 4 years ago, who totally undressed him and had him reeling. Campillo has no power, he was just that much smarter and the better boxer.

Shumenov is slow and methodical. But quite strong. Technically he can corner Hopkins and pound him...or theoretically..

True, but unlike Campillo, Hopkins relies on slowing the pace drastically and making his opponent overthink and become tentative. I don't think Shumenov will be troubled by BHops tactics as others have been, regardless of fouls or bad refs.

I pray to the Gods for Hopkins to be stopped early.

LMAO at the goof-ball dufus comments in this thread.
I mean, I can understand Farmy. He loves Hopkins, but...

It's rare when Hopkins comes in as the favorite.

Shumenov will have to push himself hard for this fight. Hopkins will use every dirty trick he has up his sleeve not to lose. I could see Nard using another injury to get out of the fight should he start looking bad.

i've got Shuminov winning if he doesn't get suckered into fighting at Hopkins pace. he needs to fight his own fight and just beat on Bernard until he can't take any more. Bernard is clearly there for the taking these days. but it's up to Shuminov now.

the score cards will be the biggest problem because even if BS wins the fight, he will not come close to getting a decision. look at the Murat fight. i had that one even but Nard got an undeserved lopsided win. so watch out for that, you know it's coming.

I had Hopkins clearly ahead of Murat and on the way to a TKO until Murat started excessive rough housing and fouling tactics to survive.:yep
