Some dude said no Hopkins fan would play the age card, if he lost...
There are lots of non Hopkins fans, if you judge by the pools of tears around here. :|

If historians treat Hopkins badly then what the **** are they going to say about Calzaghe struggling with a 43 year old version who gets discounted by the historians?

The best things that a Calzaghe fan can do for their fighter's legacy is to gush in the legend of Hopkins. But that's like telling a woman to keep her mouth shut at a coffee clutch of dames.

Calzaghe won clearly and very easily by one of the judges. Joe had an uncomfortable night against Bika but won most rounds.

The fact is an old Calzaghe beat Hopkins and all that will be remember is Calzaghe beat Hopkins by SD.

I think what he accomplished at middle weight already cemented his legend ..If you don't respect what he has done in boxing than your really not a boxing fan and more of a fan of popularity contests !!!

Lol... i guess im not understanding the line of thought that the guy who JC just had a tough tough battle with and was dropped by, who was the champion at age 43, isnt a legend.... lol... thats like JC being the light heavy champ EIGHT years from now, and BARELY losing to the undefeated super middle champ of that time, and then people saying it doesnt say much about him being a legend lol. he had 20 title defenses... do you know how hard it is to do that? i dont care WHAT the competition is, thats 20 times that a fighter had a shot at the title and couldnt beat him, thats impressive... yes, it hurts him that the competition wasnt great.... but his legend is based off those 20 defenses AND what he is doing now, in his almost mid 40's.

    give me a break

at least from my perspective thats how im seeing this....

That's all that will be remembered? Yet you get into historians discrediting Hopkin's legacy? And you want to trash the entire American boxing scene in the process.

You're sort of running on wet terrazzo with scissors here.

you people are being ridiculous. I make NO EXCUSES for him losing but to say he is not a legend is stupid.

Ofcourse Hopkins is a legend but hes 43 why do you think Joe C. fought him only now. So shut up, a younger Hopkins would've destroyed Calzaghe!

Wow a 43 year old Hopkins is outworked by a younger Calzaghe and now all of a sudden he's a joke? Hopkins is far from a joke. I suggest you take a much closer look at his resume before referring to an ATG like Hopkins as a myth. BTW if he's a myth like you claim certainly Joe should have had him out of there in 5 rounds and shouldn't have been dropped as well right?
