Hopkins accepted a catch weight against DLH, Why doesn't GG do the same? ?

Oscar wasn't claiming to be the middleweight champ. He just wanted to fight the best.

Hopkins is 50 years old fights at LHW, hasn't a belt and hasn't won a fight since 2014. There are several ressons why is isn't the right fight for Golovkin now.
i doubt Hopkins will come down to 160 so the fight will be at 168 or even at higer weight which privileged Hopkins. Even if Golovkins win he might have problems to go back to 160 or down to Caneloweight for the big fight
If Golovkin stops Hopkins he won't get much credit for it retrospectively.

Canleo's last few fights were at 155. He has 3 MW titles. His next fight is billed as a MW Championship fight.

The MW weight range is 154+ to 160.
So he IS technically a MW fighter.

technically yes but since Cotto created the Caneloweightclass they secretly trying to kidnap the WBC MW belt down to 154

    2014 Cotto vs Martinez 159
    2015 cotto vs Geale 157
    2015 Cotto vs Alvarez 155
    2016 Alvarez vs Khan 155

    2022 ? Alvarez vs Golovkin 154.1 ?

By the time Dela Hoya fought Hopkins he had moved up through around six weight classes.

Canelo has only moved up one weight class.

When you climb way beyond your natural division a catch weight might be appropriate.

When you only move up one division it shouldn't be.

Ggg doesn't have to. He's on his way to becoming a ppv attraction. Or at least his team believes so.

haha ya that would have went over well on PPV. Atleast Oscar won a few rounds vs hops, sturm may have won 1 round but would have gone the distance atleast, I think.
