Stevenson and his team should hand their heads in shame. They played games the first time they tried to negotiate a fight with BHop and this time they don't even want to know. Makes me think Stevenson's reasons for signing with Showtime wasn't just for money but he clearly was also looking for an easier path.

Hopkins, once again shows he isn't scared to put his name forward for the big fights. He could have easily had an easier final fight, maybe a farewell bout in Philly, but that's just not how he rolls.

    Wow.

Golovkin can try to outdo Kovalev, which would be impressive regardless.

    Stevenson just needs to retire.

The way he's going, he can extend his career into his mid 40s at least.

Wait for Stevenson vs Fonfara 3, or maybe they can dig Dawson up again. The lineal reign goes on.

Hopkins may have never been a huge draw but he headlined PPV's selling in excess of 400K as the name fighter on the card. Even though he now isn't as big a draw as he once was, he's still a bigger draw than Fonfara.

Golovkin is desperate for a good opponent but then everyone so far is ducking him. Hopkins isn't the first or even second option for Golovkin though, he wants Canelo or Saunders, so it's not like Golovkin really wants BHop, he's a last resort should everyone else duck him again. If the fight happens it because Hopkins is the only one with the courage to face him.

Chickenson has become an embarrassment. As for Hopkins a true warrior!

Stevenson instead will rematch a person he already beat, and i think Hopkins actually beats Stevenson who would fight at Hopkins pace

Exactly, it's shameful. It also puts to shame guys like Canelo and Saunders who are in their physical prime and yet still want nothing to do with Golovkin.

Here's the thing with this announcement; BHOP is very business asute.
This announcement is GBP PR to, (1) marinade Promotion for the pending Golovkin-Canelo, (2) Promote new buddy Kovalev for pending Stevenson-Kovalev bout, (3) Promote BHOP for pending last bout.

Although BHOP says he agreed to K2's terms, the fight will very likely never happen and if it does, BHOP will very likely be 52 years old ,making it even more meaningless than a 50 year old BHOP.
Stevenson can't be failed for ducking BHOP in this instance. BHOP is a year older than when he was shut out by Kovalev, so why should Stevenson sign up for a lose/lose bout with BHOP when at this point his resume is already levels above both Kovalev and Golovkin's?

Personally, although BHOP is my favorite fighter, the Kovalev fight revealed that he has slowed down so much to be too old and too small to be non-competitive in the LHW division. Also, for opponents it really at the point of being a meaningless bout, like Holmes-Ali.
