I'm not going to count the Ole' Man completely out but I honestly believe that Hopkins can't pull the trigger anymore. He's 52 years ole' FFS. At some point everyone hits the wall. Plus, when was the last time Hopkins weighed in at less than 170lbs for a fight?

This fight is a travesty of the first order and Team Triple Duck deserves to be tarred and feathered...

    LOL.

    Proving once again that YDKSAB.

    Guys I'd favor to beat Hopkins right now;

    Jacobs
    Bumlovkin
    Degale
    Jack
    Stevenson

And if I really thought about it, there are probably 3-4 more names I could add to this list...

And when he lands those shots on Golovkin, it will be much more frequently and it will make Gennady realize he's in a real fight for the first time in his career.

And Kovalev has excellent stamina, and is something far more special than the inferior Golovkin.

Hopkins is going to put on a boxing clinic, and GGG is going to wish he challenged Canelo at Caneloweight.

Oscar will be smiling in stockings as B-Hops saves the day, and renders Golovkin into an after thought, making it unnecessary for Canelo to need to face him.

No he's old. How the hell can a 51 year old best GGG?

All Golovkin has to do is walk towards him and just keep punching him.

In all seriousness Nay Sayer, I believe what I'm saying about Hopkins 100%.

I understand that he is FIFTY-FREAKIN-ONE and that in itself speaks volumes! So the wheels can fall completely off at any moment, and maybe as you and others have suggested, they already have.

But I honestly don't believe that to be the case.

I think Kovalev is one of those rare monsters that had the skill, size, and power to neutralize Hopkins' offense completely. I really don't see anyone, save maybe Ward, beating Kovalev at 175.

I honestly believe that Golovkin will pose far fewer problems for Hopkins than Kovalev did. I don't think Gennady's power will have the impact at 170 that he has at 160, and Hopkins I believe will be the first A-level talent Golovkin has ever faced as a pro.

Golovkin has great footwork, but he doesn't seem to cover as much ground as quickly as Kovalev, even if his footwork is better in a textbook sense. I also think Gennady's jab will be far less effective against Hopkins than Kovalev's jab, and given the fact that Gennady is shorter and smaller in stature than Kovalev, I think Hopkins will have a far easier time maneuvering Golovkin into unfavorable positions, where Hopkins can successfully set traps and mount a decent enough offense to keep things competitive.

Maybe I'm underestimating GGG. Maybe I'm overestimating Hopkins.

Or maybe I'm underrating Golovkin and overrating Kovalev.

    But I don't believe that's the case.

I still honestly believe that Hopkins can be competitive with all of these guys south of cruiser, even if he winds up losing.

If I'm incorrect, it won't be the first time, and it probably won't be the last.

But I genuinely believe Hopkins has all the tools and skills necessary to beat Golovkin at 170.

I hope we get to find out.

Kovalev isn't the big bad monster everyone is making him out to be. He's good but most of the hype is due to good matchmaking more than anything else. The 175lb division is a wasteland. Plenty of LHWs from yesteryear mop the floor with Kovalev. Hell, had Hopkins been 10 years younger, we wouldn't be having this conversation...

I agree with you here. Hopkins has the height and reach advantage and Bumlovkin isn't the most fleet of foot guy ever to grace the squared circle. The Executioner has ALWAYS been a master at controlling the distance and I suspect that will be the case if/when they fight. However, I have serious doubts about Hopkins' stamina - especially if this fight is at 168. Bumlovkin, with his come forward and apply "intelligent" pressure kind of style, will wear down the Ole' Man, IMO. Team Triple Duck knows that Hopkins' clip is loaded with blanks and that they can come forward with impunity.

Sure thing, Hopkins will be able to set traps and he'll see PLENTY of openings seeing as Bumlovkin has Shi'ite for defense. The question is; can Hopkins pull the trigger? Even still, if Hopkins can land cleanly on Bumlovkin, can he keep him honest? I don't think so...
