“I go in the ring with one thing in mind — win,” said Hopkins. “Hit him more than he hits me. Pavlik’s style is self-explanatory. I’m a throwback. This fight has the potential to go either way. Both sides have the potential to taste canvas. I’m a legend; everyone knows what I’ve accomplished. I want to show people I haven’t lost it."

Hopkins can't stop boxing because of money but it must come to an end now and Pavlik will remind him of his age in their fight...

It is the beginning of the end or even perhaps the end of the end for Hopkins. He is starting to sound a bit like Jones did after he was ko'd by Tarver and that man in your avatar, Glen Johnson. Like an old man trying to justify why he is still fighting. Not the usual confidence talking Hopkins of before. When someone says they just want to show people they haven't lost it, it usually means they just want to show people they aren't completely gone; you will see old flashes of Hopkins here and there, though no one is guaranteeing a win.

Hopkins is just trying to lull Pavlik into a false sense of security.

He knows he will never lose to a white boy.

Joe Calzaghe turned out to be blacker than you might think from looking at him, so he's played it safe this time, they don't come much whiter than Pavlik.

If anybody gonna see the canvas is Pavilk just like Joe the problem with Hopkins now is not just his age but he lost the killer instinct in the ring he is just comfortable to try to win technically the Hopkins that beat Tito would easily dominate pavilk.

I can't remember the last time I heard Hopkins talking about getting knocked down, or even touched really, for the most part. Not like him to talk that way.

People like to criticize this fight but you know what.. I think it's a great matchup. How many fighters can convincingly beat Hopkins even at his age? Not too damn many that's for sure. This is indeed a throwback fight imo as it's the classic up and coming young boxer-puncher vs. the seasoned ring veteran with every trick at his disposal. I am very excited for this fight. I'm a fan of both

Hopkins is acting really strange, he's giving Pavlik so much respect. It has to be some sort of head game again. Compare this to how he usually is in pre-fight build ups and he comes off as Pavlik's #1 fan.

    Agreed.

Can't believe how much respect he's shown for Pavlik in the build-up to this fight. Very, VERY strange.

I know. But i don't think it's a head game. I think it's just him being honest and knowing where he's at and what type of guy he's fighting. He knows he's not going to dominate anyone with his style. It's more about survival and making people look bad but yeah, you listen to his interviews and he's so respectful. A little too much for my taste.
