Perhaps he saw that his racist talk in the Calzaghe fight didn't lead to any major jump in the ratings/box office draw and he's decided to take a different approach?

I dont see Pavlik flooring Hopkins or even beating him for that matter but it might make boxing more exciting if Pavlik were to win then he could fight Calzaghe if Joe wins vs Roy.

Hopkins age showed up in the Calzaghe fight, round 11-12 was tough for Bernard, he look very tired.

Sadly, Pavlik will knock Hopkins out, I dont like to say this, but that will happens, and it wont even be a close fight.

hmm Hopkins to me in the calzaghe fight looked a shadow of his former best, he is struggling with stamina,in the joe calzaghe fight i was thinking it would be a good fight which bernard would win but his health, stamina, speed seems to have left him, i think it will be a clear UD for Pavlik

Please hope b hop makes this his last fight nothing more to prove for a great fighter such as him!

Like I said very uncharacteristic of Hopkins to say those things. I think maybe he has realized he no longer has it and perhaps that has dented his confidence a bit.

What he'll be "seeing" all night is Pavlik's oh-so-predictable "jab-straight right" combo he throws over, and over, and over again.

Hopkins is just too smart to be fooled by such a limited aresonal.

Like him or not, Bernard is the truth. The guy is gonna go in there with the clear knowledge of what may or may not take place in real time... And he's not afraid of his destiny, fortunate or tragic, which is also an indication of the fact that he doesn't neglect. I couldn't have said it better, yes, Bernard is a self-made-man, the true american dream just like Obama... The present will take root in the past, give us the power, it's almost done.

In all seriousness, do you really think that? I don't think Hopkins wil win, but I think he will be too smart, too cagey for Pavlik to stop him.

If Pavlik manages to, then I will salute Kelly because no fighter has been able to do it to date. I don't see that changing come October.

His trainer was 'begging' people at the press conference in Youngstown NOT to abandon Kelly when he loses to Hopkins. Got soundly boo'ed of course, but Kelly was also talking about stopping Hopkins. Something I have never heard him do before. Usually it is go out and box and if the knock out comes, it comes.....

im pretty sure all the people talkin about pavlik copping a boxing lesson will disappear after the fight, hopkins will either get handidly ud'ed or stopped, bottom line pavlik is what calzaghe is - abit of speed but 20x power

Personally I'm disappointed by Bernard's pleasant sincerity. Considering BHop's trash talking ability, Jack Leow's acid mouth, and Kelly's dry witted sarcasm, I was really looking forward to some classic one liners! But now, Bernard won't play ...:bart

I know. But i think Hopkins is just an up front and honest man and his interviews are a reflection of his current mindset. I think the Calzaghe fight showed that he slipped further. He just can't maintain any sort of good pace and he knows it. So he's not going to go off with flamboyant predictions when he knows his limitattions.

On the flip side, look at Hopkins' demeanor leading up to the Calzaghe fight. He had just shocked the world by beating Tarver and looked FRESH doing it. So his interviews leading up to that fight was probably a good indication of how he really felt which was sky high.

I think Hopkins just tells it like it is. As he would say, "It is what it is".

I honestly would be very shocked if Hopkins was able to KO Pavlik ..Better yet drop him .I expect Hopkins to win by UD but if he drops Kelly I would be impressed .On the flip side I would also be shocked if Pavlik were to drop Hopkins ..I have't seen Hopkins taste canvas since his wrestling match with Antwon Echols !
