Pavlik, as good as he is...has never been in the ring with someone with even remotely the intelligence of Hopkins. His youth will be his undoing...I hope! Go Hopkins!!! :hh
Agree. It will be one of those fights when all the people who pick Pavlik will say to themselves: "Bernard has made a fool of me again." Honestly, to me it's so obvious Hopkins wins this. People are forgetting what a freak Calzaghe is and how different he is to Pavlik. Hopkins will find Pavlik **** easy after spending 12 rounds neutralising Calzaghe. Hopkins UD or late stoppage as Pavlik gets reckless late on.
You know what convinced me even more? The weigh in. Pavlik showed immaturity and lack of composure in response to Hopkin's antics. This tells me Pavlik is not the ice cool cat we think he is and this could manifest itself in the fight. Pavlik disappointed me there. I thought he would stay cool as a cucumber.
Even if he does, I'll be surprised if one right hand will get the job done. I think he needs to land and land a lot to trouble Hopkins, anything is possible of course.
I really don't dream about boxing but last night Pavlik scored a TKO victory in the 10th. Should I put some money on that round? However I feel Hopkins will win a decision tonight and will look good doing it. Great thread title BTW. In the end it could be the age and everything comes with it that will prevail.
But Calzaghe is a physical freak. Hopkins won't have to work as hard in rounds, either mentally or physically, against Pavlik. Though of course, Hopkins will throw away a few rounds doing things similar to the Calzaghe fight. It just won't be as extreme or noticeable to the judges this time.
Opposite. It will be the reason why he loses. His legs arent what they used to be. We will be lucky if he throws more than 30 punches in any round. Hopkins tries to conserve his energy towards the later rounds. Unlucky for him that he is fighting a young fighter that isnt afraid to throw more than 50 punches a round.
He is a fighter. He won't stand there and be disrespected. Sounds like Hopkins lost it when Kelly had a ready answer for his rehearsed speech. It was Bhop that backed off. Kelly stood his ground. Immature to defend your self? :? Please.
Older age is an intangible element. Hard to know if it's going to be an advantage or not. It was for Vitali over Peter. In the Calzaghe fight, Hopkins couldn't find his corner after the bell was rung four times. Roach was concerned about this enough to suggest that B-Hop not take this fight. My money is on a Pavlik by KO (yes KO) but I wouldn't mind seeing a guy exactly my age beat the younger guy!
