    work rate, speed, angles, stamina

he is there to be hit and he leaves himself open for counters. He is hardly the superhuman fighter he is made out to be.

Hops will have the hardest time with that workrate/stamina. How will he slow him down? He cant match that no way. He is there to be countered and no doubt Hops will get some counters in, but I dont think it will be enough.

I could see like a prime Toney at 168 having a easy win with calfagii cause he could counter him well

jesus ****ing christ. RJJ beats a blown up, inactive tito and all of a sudden he can beat calzaghe.

the RJJ train left town years ago, he's shot to **** and calzaghe would batter him into retirement. a legless fighter cannot beat calzaghe.

I know Micky. Back to Lacy: I disagree man, there's no doubt the guy is tough as nails. the Wiki entry on Jeff Lacy explains how he has fought on with severe injuries and ****. You can't say Lacy isn't a tough *******!

calzaghe is not the only one that beats him with ease at LHW. get off the ****ing train, he is done and has been since tarver turned his world upside down.

RJJ can't put away tito who's over two years outta the game and never fought above 160 but he's live because he can still KO iron jaw calzaghe? get the **** outta here with your twisted logic.

at the risk of being pessimistic - joe's best weapons are subscribing to frank warren's belief that :

    1. NEVER fight a proven world class fighter in his prime

    2. always take on your nemesis (...s) when they are over the hill.

on a continental scale this will work and fill both your pockets...

    with a non-pessimistic view....

hopkins has ruled a weak division but also proved his notable skill while in his prime. since calzaghe chose not to test his skills while he was in his prime i efer to my points above.

We know he didn't test his true skills, he has no real opponents, and it's hard not to mention that he didn't get a chance to test his skills because he was avoided. Going back to the quote PlugInBabies posted, that's yet another example of what I'm saying. Let's not blame Calzaghe here.

Another article I was just reading talks about the same thing.

    that just isn't true.

joe has hopkins now so you can't tell me that if joe chose to hit the US and make an impression into his marketability and financial viability earlier then he could have.

anyone can sit in their hometown and grind out wins without ever having faced the man they need to beat to receive worldwide acclaim - and if joe was born in the US i think we can all agree that jones and -or hopkins would be on his resume in one way or another.

it's a complete fallacy that joe was 'avoided'.
i wish people would learn from this.

the playing field is in the US - you either utilise the momentum you have from your base outside the US or you rename yourself sven ottke for life.

    boxing is a business.

    i'll say it a again - BUSINESS.

    calzaghe knows this.
    so does frank warren.

if you CHOOSE not to play the game then you will not get career defining fights.

why did ricky hatton leave frank warren?

because he knew this, rolled the dice and earned his fight with floyd mayweather.

whatever happens from now on in the lives of both these talented british fighters - it will be calzaghe who tries to talk himself up rather than hatton even though calzaghe is probably the more talented fighter.

    i think so anyway.

but THAT'S the frustrating thing about joe....

he chose not to find out how good he was against the best fighters of his generation.

Hopins will have to overcome more than one of Calzaghe's weapon.
