I'll believe it when I actually see both Hops and Calzaghe sign the contract. And if the fight is held in the states I'm going.

"promotional Buy out" also means GBP actually does all the hiring of refs and judges with no questions asked and Calzaghe needs to simply tell Warren to get lost.

Now lets also hope that after new team Calzaghe flies all the way over here and agrees that Bernard dont once again say "they agreed? Oh **** now what?"

Now how in the **** would you, bhop, or GBP know how much calzaghe
made fighting kessler. He drew 50,000 people to cardiff. I like the offer
that GPB offered joe, but i'm sure frank would at least like to work out the details and read the contract first. If that's OK w/ you.

would gbp sign that deal giving up promotional rights?

the british ppv alone would be worth moe than the 2million being offeed to warren to step aside. this is a b.s. offer

Yes, but thats not NET worth. Warren would also have to promote it which would cost him money. And as I recall, not all of those fights are on PPV in England, according to some of the brits here.

true, but i am sure that this would be.

and do you think gbp would make this offer if he did not intend it to be ppv.

and where do you think the majority of buys would be.

I don't know how big Calzaghe is over there. Hopkins isn't a bad draw here either.

GBP may have made the offer for any number of reasons. I won't speculate. But if Calzaghe just called out Hopkins, and then Hopkins offers a career high payday, seems rather odd to turn it down. We here like to nitpick over this and that, but the bottom line is that if you fight someone else for less, then you look odd.

actually i am not looking at it from the calzaghe standpoint, but rather from the warren pov. calzaghe put 50,000 asses in the seats for his last fight. and to my understanding the brits support the hell out of their fighters.
the question is would i as a promoter want to give up the television rights for a proven comodity for only 2 million dollars.

from a fans standpoint, i am lukewarm on this fight, and no i do not get caught up on how much a fighter makes, i only want to see the best available fights.

and after seeing some of the recent incredulous decisions in favor of gbp fighters, would you want him to be the sole promoter if you were calzaghe?

there are a lot of factors to consider, not only the payday.

All promoters get some ludicrous decisions.

And as far as I know this fight would be in the states. So I am not sure how much the UK support matters here.

I personally want Hopkins to fight a LHW. Or declare that title up for grabs.

the uk number was simply used as a measure of joe's support over there. which does matter when you consider that as the sole promoter, gbp would also have the television rights world wide. which means ppv in great britain.

but agreed that bhop should be fighting a lhw rather than working on his pension fund and holding the title hostage.

and as fr as the decisions, there wil always be bad decisions, but gbp is making it a habit. the two worst decisions this year have both been gbp d hopkins and casa, throw in pdl over penalosa for good measure

$8m isn't that good is it? That's what, less than £4m and didn't he make over £5m for fighting Kessler?
