Where would it rank among the all-time over-40 boxing accomplishments if Hopkins won?

There are only five fighters in history who have scored what could arguably be termed "great" wins after the age of 40: George Foreman (who won the heavyweight title from Michael Moorer), Archie Moore (who recovered from four knockdowns to defend the light heavyweight throne against Yvon Durelle), Larry Holmes (who upset a prime Ray Mercer), Bob Fitzsimmons (who captured the light heavy title from George Gardner) and Hopkins (who took the 175-pound championship from Antonio Tarver).

I think his accomplishments post 40 were better then Foreman. I mean foreman was basically getting his butt kicked against Moorer till he landed that clean KO shot. Hopkins has dominated two guys on the top (tarver/pavlik) and won nearly every single round of both those fights. Plus beat a game winky and lost a very close split decision to #2 p4p fighter in the world (some people had him #1 at the time).

But Archie Moore should be considered teh best post 40 fighter ever.

For Foreman at 45 to knock out the Undisputed Heavyweight Champ who was 26, to me, was the greatest old man accomplishment.

You have to also remember that Foreman at 42, shook Holyfield, and fought a pretty competitive fight against a prime Holyfield.

As a standalone event, Foreman-Moorer was the most incredible.

As a physical marvel, Hopkins might be.

As for having a "career" over 40, Moore was right up there.

Ray Robinson beat Ralph Dupas aged 42. Dupas went on to become the light middleweight champion of the world in his very next fight.

I think not, Hopkins went from two loses and moved straight up to
face so called by himself "legend killer", something he never did before.
Pavlik is a very good win but no more impressive than Tito few years ago.

Archie Moore was the best post-40 fighter.

Bernard Hopkins is a close second and had the best wins: Tarver and Pavlik.

Best fighter above 40 years old: Archie Moore, Bernard Hopkins, George Foreman, Larry Holmes, Fitzsimmons. Ray Robinson also beat Denny Moyer when he was over 40. At 40 years old, Holyfield beat Hasim Rahman; later, he beat Fres Oquendo.

Great fighters like Muhammad Ali (who was being humilliated by Berbick at 39), Jack Johnson (who was being beat by Jess Willard in his late 30s), Ezzard Charles and Jersey Joe Walcott were all losing before they reach 40 years old.
