    You didn't see the fight?

It was the same thing he did against Calzaghe, except at least in that fight he was having to fight as something resembling a pace. Against Jones he was setting the pace, bossing the fight and STILL had to feign injury to get a breather

If you saw the fight, you saw that Dawson was sucessful and won rounds when he let his hands go.......

.....and lost rounds being outhustled when he was stationary, posing, unwilling to let his punches go.

There was'nt any energy there from Dawson, and I'm not saying this because I'm a fan of Dawson, because in fact I dont have any special rooting interest when he fights.

My post history would indicate in fact that I'm not a particular fan of Dawson's.

......but facts are facts, Dawson had been calling Hopkins out for some time. Hopkins never had any interest in fighting Dawson.......but as soon as Hopkins saw what I saw in the Dawson vs Pascal fight......Hopkins knew right away Pascal was fortunate Dawson did'nt show up to fight......and now, Hopkins will take full advantage of that this coming saturday night, and who can blame him.

......just pointing out the brunt of the picture.:yep

I'm with you on the Jones issue......Hopkins exherted alot of energy trying to stop Jones.......Jones was just rope a doping and covering up......

......before you knew it, Hopkins needed a breather, and Jones who had'nt done much punching to then, had alot in the tank and was ready to let some of it out.....

.......Hopkins then schemed to get himself out of that predicament and purposely let the fight turn ugly.

Ummmm, you realize the decade ended when the moment the calendar read "2010". The past decade was from 2000-2009, the new one is 2010-2019. Come on, man.

There aint NO way he knocks Hopkins out. Thats a horrible statement to make, he doesnt have half the offense to cause Hopkins any trouble. Dawson fought two past prime fighters in Johnson and Tarver, IF he actually knocked one of them out at least once then you may have a point here.
Styles make fights, and Dawson just wont land any clear punches against Hopkins.

    Hopkins would beat Dawson convingly

Now that I think of it, it would be hard for Dawson to knockout a fighter like Hopkins that when he knows is outgunned, goes into survival mode.

.....the facts prove it......he fought less than half a fight in both Jermaine Taylor fights, and brought out a load of survival tactics against Calzaghe.

Workrate would win Dawson the fight.
Hopkins would purely be in it to survive.

Dawson has good skills, he's not going to be taken to school like the mono dimensional, jab right hand Pavlik.

    Thats the thing.

Taylor punches naturally until he gasses out, thats just JT
Calzaghe throws 100 punches a round like its nothing

Dawson on the other hand doesnt do that, if the fight were to be cagey, it woudl work to Hopkins's advantage. If Dawson appeared to be cagey against Pascal, imagine what Hopkins would do to bad Chads soul.

...and now 8 months older. Pascal will out hustle him in a boring fight.

Hopkins winning won't be much of a shock - only to the casuals.

In my opinion though, Pascal will take a UD.

Dawson is busy enough to keep Hopkins on the backfoot and thinking........
Dawson has youth on his side and he should know that to beat Hopkins he'd have to be busy.

Skillwise, Dawson would be the best skill fighter Hopkins would ever face since his jump up from middleweight, the possible exception being Calzaghe.
......but Dawson has alot more versatility and dimensions to offer that Calzaghe could not.
.......because of it, I could very much see a scenario upon which Dawson would force Hopkins to have to open up and fight (when Hopkins would want to survive) just to keep Dawson off of him.
......thats where I see the possibility of a Dawson KO!

This Dawson-Hopkins possible matchup I would parrallel with the matchup that occured between Paul Williams and Winky Wright.

.......Williams had the size, skills, and power to force Winky to have to fight. The turtle defense by Winky was not enough against the size, skill, and versatility of Paul Williams, when it had been against many others like Felix Trinidad.
