Joe before the fight suggested it was going to be an easy fight, I think he forgot that he was facing the best fighter he ever faced despite B-Hop being several years past his best. Calzaghe scraped by B-hop last night. I think Joe won , but it proved to me what I have always said about Joe. He is a "Role model" for any fighter wanting to fight under Frank Warrens management. Hi is the finished product from a Frank Warren Managerial point of view. A guy who creatively picks his risks against good/B level opposition at home and then make the way to the US to fight Big names past their best...the final product creating an illusion of a great fighter. He is an excellent fighter, who would have given B-Hop RJJ Toney a tough fight in their primes, I even think Nigel Benn would have been able to beat Calzaghe decicively. B-Hop on the other hand stated that he would win the fight easily...and he was doing till his 43 year old lungs caught up with him. When he was active/punching there was large gap in class. It was similar to HAMED -BARRERA (counterpunching) but the problem for B-Hop was Barrera was a 27 year old HOF fighter and B-Hop a much older one. Credit to Joe for using his heart/youth to overcome a far superior technician. Joe is a class act outside of the ring and inside. But I am not fooled into believing an ATG. He claims he needed a Big Name on his record, well B-Hop isn't the answer. Would we call De La Hoya alegend for beating a fading Julio Cezar Chavez?? B-Hop did what he said he was going to do...he left enough doubt in our minds about Calzaghe.
I dont agree. I feel that BHOP fought just like he always does. He leads with his right hand with his head as well, or he counters the agressor affectivley when they come in. The reason jc won is because he kept coming and made HOP fight every second without rest. No one has ever been able to do that.
Hopkins backed up what he said? So the white man didn't beat him? Enzo Calzaghe stopped the fight? Joe needed a face-lift? I guess I really didn't watch the fight last night. Must've been a dream. Damn, what a ****ing disappointment.
Hopkins ran like a frightened girl doing nothing more than pot shotting from an almost illegal stance. He lead with the head and clinched all night and to cap off his performance he tried to steal the fight by claiming to be injured by non existant low blows. His ridiculous pantomime after being hit just under the belt was the worst act of cowardice I've seen in a fight since Tyson bit Holyfields ear in an attempt to get away from a beating. Hopkins then showed he has no class by claiming he won during his post fight interview.
Hopkins lost to Roy and his greatest acheivements are beating up welterweights in Trinidad and Delahoya. If Calzaghe beat them that would be your response. And as far as Tarver is concerned he landed the shot heard around the world against Roy but other than that he was no Roy or Dariusz M. in his era. Eubanks, Lacy, Kessler, Hopkins, Reid, Mitchell, Prime Sheika, and Brewer, are as good as anything Bernard beat at MW (Eastman, Holmes, Vanderpool, Johnson, Winky). I guess fighting Robert Allen 3 times was bad ass old school Philly fighting. Calzaghe legacy as one of the greatest if not the greatest SMW's is secure whether you like it or not.
I thought Hopkins said he was going to punish Calzaghe and beat him up so that his dad had to throw in the towel I guess we were watching a different fight last night
I guess if this string was started by the "President" we can all assume it was created using false positives, outright lies and logical fallacies.
