:huhWhat? AK=Andriy Kotelnik. What are you talking about?

I said AK looked like he was ready for a GQ photo shoot, nothing about Calzaghe and BHop.

a concept that is lost with the OP is that boxing is scored by rounds not by stats in a whole.

Different dynamics. Hopkins was clearly outworked, and it was the effect of the workrate that made the difference, not the workrate itself. Calzaghe landed more punches AND threw more. Hopkins landed the better punches, overall. Still, the pressure from Calzaghe was getting Hopkins visibly exhausted. Hopkins won a few rounds by landing some nice shots, but he couldn't do it every round. Calzaghe was never hurt, and neither was Hopkins. However, Hopkins was fading badly due to the pace.

I haven't seen Clottey vs. Cotto in a long time, so I can't comment on that one other than to say I seem to remember thinking it could have gone either way.

Dirrell vs. Froch...you're out of your mind...both guys were almost completely inneffective in that fight. Dirrell woke up toward the end and put a hurting on Froch, but it was too late to dig himself out of the points deficit he had gotten into.

Alexander vs. Kotelnik. I will be watching it again. I didn't bother scoring it the first time because in light of the Khan vs. Kotelnik fight, I figured Kotelnik was going to get stopped. However, my impression after ost of the rounds in the last 2/3 of the fight was that Kotelnik washitting and hurting Alexander almost at will. Alexander threw a lot of punches, but most of them were jabs from out of range which were not intended to land. Alexander seemed sick to me, the way he avoided real engagement and slumped over in his corner. Cunningham at one point was like 'you alright, man???' I felt like at the end of most rounds, you had to think Kotelnik came out the better man. He was hitting Alexander frequently, cleanly, and he was hardly getting hit himself. But I'll take another look.

Hopkins landed the better shots, but calzaghe landed more & threw more. Bhop took off too much time in a lot of rounds so i would have given it to calzaghe. Direll outboxed froch period. Cotto was on the run from clottey, but he gave away the late rounds, plus a kd, so he should've lost. Alexander did nothing effective in that fight. Kotelnnik pressured him w/out really pressing. Alexander did a lot of moving around that meant absoluetly nothing. Kotlenik countered him & landed the cleaner more effective punches.

No way did calzaghie win. Hopkins landed more clean and effective shots. Calzaghie landed like 7-10 solid punches in the first 7 rounds and got knocked down once. He and his dad we frustrated all night. The biggest highlight calzaghie had in that fight was his attempt at ***** porn. His dad said he needed a KO to win going into the last round and my scorecard read the same.

    calzaghe beat hopkins

    dirrell beat froch

    cotto beat clottey

    kotelnik beat alexander

since fights are scored on a round by round basis, using compubox stats dont tell the whole story.

had calzaghe lost, he and his pops would would've blaimed hopkins, not the judges, because they know they couldn't do ****. he didn't even look confident at the end of the fight. even he thought he had lost.

    I had
    This content is protected
    beating CALZAGHE by 1 point.

    I had
    This content is protected
beating FROCH by 2 points (though to be honest it's pretty ridiculous that Dirrell had a point deducted and Froch didn't, Froch strayed outside the rules more than Dirrell did, at the very least both or neither should have had a point deducted, so it should have been 3 points on my card if fairness had prevailed).

    But I had
    This content is protected
beating CLOTTEY by 1 or 2 points.

So ultimately, I can't agree with the thread. I agree that Clottey landed the better punches, inflicted more damage on Cotto, and won rounds very clearly, but over the piece Cotto won more rounds on a round-by-round basis, he outboxed Clottey in more rounds.

If you are serious, you should be ashamed of yourself. These three fights do have something in common, but it has nothing to do with race. In each fight, the guy with the higher workrate prevailed over the guy who did the better quality work. That's what the TS is getting at. This forum is rife with racism, but this thread is not about that.

I watched the Hopkins/Calzaghe fight numerous times. As much as I can't stand Calzaghe, he did beat Hopkins by a few points. It is very obvious.

On the other hand, Calzaghe is still overrated.

Dirrell beat Froch in my opinion. Calz, however, outpointed Hopkins in an aesthetically egregious affair. As for Kotelnik and Alexander, I had it a draw or slight decision for Kotelnik.
