I felt the fight was closer than 117-111. Edit: Basically, in a fight where there are at least six close rounds, the fight can go either way based on judging preferences. Although Dawson seemed to be generally "winning the fight", fights are scored on a round by round basis and "general winningness" doesn't mean anything unless you've accumulated more than six rounds for a win.
Yeah pretty much ..Like to thank Hopkins for the clinch fest ..See the diffrence when he faces a boxer as opposed to plodders ..
I had it 116 - 113, scored the first round even and gave Hopkins the 3rd, 7th and 12th but theres really no argument that Dawson won. Hopkins just finally showed his age
I went out of my way to defend the Rios decision but the closest I could possibly score this fight was 115-113 for Dawson. I'm as objective as it gets...
Yeah, if anyone won but they were always playin chess and Hopkins coming on 2. Neither did Chad charged at full steam on him so I agree 117-111 is BS and people are going against Rivera. It doesn't matter that HBO had 117-111, Harold is another kinda animal and his days judging larry Holmes fight out of the back foot and sneakin right hands like Hopkins does are gone. I didn't bet cause I knew there were other factors b'sides the fight itself.
...even Hopkins' fights with Ornelas and Wright were really ugly and those guys were pressure fighters. And I'm saying this as a fan of Hopkins.
