Depends how Kov is viewed in hindsight. If BHOP beats him and Kov goes on to be a very good champion then yes. BHOP wins = Kov is a hype job Kov wins = BHOP is 50
They are even to me right now. If he beats kova then he gets the nod if kova goes on to do good things.
Already surpassed him in terms of legacy. But will never surpass him on ability as good as hopkins is/was. Roy was something else.
Whenever threads come up saying who ranks higher I always say Jones Jr. But if Hopkins beats Kovalev which I say is a very big ask then I would have to reevaluate my opinion. What Kovalev does after he loses would have to be considered. If he loses further fights and falls into obscurity then it devalues the win with hindsight. If he goes on to win another title or even better beat Stevenson. Then yes for me it would take Hopkins above RJJ.
come on, you sound like Howard Cossel .....when he, almost sad like said Ali was not only gonna lose, but hoped he wouldnt get hurt permanently vs Foreman But I agree....I also said I wouldnt ever beat against him again....but if Chad Dawson could handle him the way he did, Kovalev in theory should too. Cant wait to see the betting odds
