Jones wasn't disinterested. But he was more motivated in the 2nd fight to prove that loss wasn't a real loss. There is a big difference in being disinterested or unmotivated and simply not putting on your best performance. He thought it would be like every other fight and it wasn't. When you say disinterested, I think of what Golota has done in some of his matches where he doesn't even show up to actually fight. He was obviously more motivated the 2nd fight, but that doesn't mean he was disinterested the first one. He didn't have the catalyst he did in the 2nd fight for the 1st one.
I gotta go guys... I would be interested in hearing your reasoning that Hopkins would have beaten Jones later on. Perhaps a seperate thread. I know BigReg has stated more than once Hopkins would have won a rematch. I am interested in what had changed for Hopkins and how he would have beaten Jones later on, who had improved as well.
