You are missing the point. Calzaghe is very good no doubt about. The only real knock against him might be the era he has fought and sometimes the flat performance he can give but then he still wins. In fact the only fight he might have lost was the Robin Reid one and even that is debateable.

I am not a Hopkins fan hell I wanted my main man Felix Tito Trinidad to do him but he outclassed the great Trinidad that night. A lot of people thinking Calzaghe will be to busy for Hopkins. Maybe they are right but then again Hopkins is the best fighter around today that knows how to deal with southpaws and I have seen him beat them all different types of southpaws. It is also true to say that Calzaghe might not have fought anyone quite as good as Hopkins. The best fighters Calzaghe has faced were Kessler and Eubanks who Hopkins is actually much better than. I am admitting that I might be very wrong on this one but I am edging towards Hopkins.

Extremely debateable because there's no way he lost! It was close, but it's pretty clear Joe won the fight. He came off an almost year-long period of inactivity before that fight, btw.

Unfortunately Lynes does not share your confidence that he can beat up Ajose Olusegun hence he is still refusing the fight. We are willing and ready anytime he develops the balls to get in there.

Best article about Hopkins and the fight yet by far. Now I can just wait to see the fight. Hopkins gave insightful, unvarnished views. The good thing about Hopkins is that he does not speak in platitudes like many other high profle athletes. He gives you his opinion in a raw and very unphony way. You may not like that but you have to respect it.

Yes Bernard is selling a very lucrative fight.... Calzaghe is actually not that arrogant.. Bruno wasn't arrogant, neither was Hatton or Hide, Akinwande, many said Lennox was a little arrogant but when you are the absolute best you have to walk tall.. Naseem maybee i will agree on, he was arrogant but also ignorant.. Brits as a whole aren't arrogant, Bernard has been the one acting a little more arrogant in the build up to the fight..

If The Brits Are Arrogant What Does That Make The Americans Are Charming?

Negro is a proper term, Its the alternative derogerative N word that is a but too near the bone. Afro American is probably better a word though.

BTW .... all in all racist remarks are really a bit sour on forums..

Best just dropped even if Bernard started it.......

It didnt take long for this thread to be destoryed by fickle fans

Hopkins is a great fighter he has had a tough life! but his life made him who he is! he shown respect to calzaghe which i admire! even calzaghe said Hopkins is a great legend! I give hopkins all the respect i can give for him! Calzaghe will always be my favourite boxer! this fight should be remberd for to great boxers not just Uk vs Usa or Black vs White! Hopkins in that article is very strong and shows alot of character! and it takes alot to admire a opponent for what he is a "lone wolf" who shows no fear!

I get nowhere either way. Can't be arsed putting thought into posts if others aren't going to do the same. Anyway, early on in this thread just briefly we did have a good discussion going but it was soon ruined.

Maybe we need to start another Hopkins-Calzaghe related thread and try to start again!

    How about one of these:
    • Will Brits boo the American National anthem leading to a football supporter style riot and a ban on future boxing fans leaving the UK?
    • Will Calzaghe employ Paul McKenna or Eileen Drewrey to help him combat Bernard Hopkins mind games?
    • As Bernard Hopkins has been on the Jay Leno show, will Joe go one better and get a gig on Parky?

I dont think he said anything in that article that he hasnt already said.

He talks a good game, but Hopkins is still going to lose. Calzaghe never really been a great talker, he can barely get a sentence out without stuttering, but hasnt made his money through talking it has been through beating people in the ring.

We did get a clue of one tactic from Hopkins though, I think he will look for clinches then follow through with a over hand right on the break. It will take more than 10 punches a round to beat joe Calzaghe, Hopkins doesnt have it in the tank and hasnt had it for a while - if he ever did!
