You know, guys DO adjust their fights to thier opponent. Things change when some styles interact. A very cagy and accurate copunter puncher who takes his time against a fighter who will give him many more opportunities as well?

I mean, I can't believe people think Joe and Hops will just throw what they usually do against anyone else.

Hopkins will do what he does vs everyone one eles. I think that its Joe that will find himself in a new world. Cuz I would bet my wifes car that Joes punch output will be some of the lowest he has ever had.

Lance they dont understand that counterpuncher as good has Hopkins makes guys that throw alot of shots slow down. Joe will get hit by alot of almost hidden punches.

i think cleaver people on here will agree that joe will not throw as much as he threw against lacy hence why i think it all depends on how active hopkins is

Man, I'll put myself on fire and happily play the human torch to the camera if there are not more Calzaghe symphatizers in the States than Hopkins'... There's no reason for Bernard to win an unfair decision, not even with Oscar being behind Bernard... The fight will be close and whoever loses it, will come to play the martyred hero, the wrong victim...BS, that's all it is!

calzaghe will be far to dominant for any controversy, clear ud,possibly late stoppage between 9-12.

The only contoversial thing about the decision will be if it goes in Calzaghe's way.

We all know that if JC does not stop Bunny-Hop then the American will get the home verdict.

It stinks but it is what we take for granted now.

Its not unbridled bias to say that a Golden Boy fighter in Las Vegas may well get a helping hand from some uneven perspective judging.

    Its not nuthugging, just experience.

There's nothing controversial about the fact that Calzaghe sometimes squares up, falls in and gets out of position and open for a counter. He did an excellent job of keeping his right shoulder in front and use body movement to tag Kessler with jabs and lefts to the head and body - touch him, touch him and re-position himself - still Kessler has no upper-body movement at all, he is always on the receiving end of a soft - scoring jab and only looks to counter with big straight shot-bombs, Kessler doesn't move his head and keeps pretty stationary while Calzaghe steps back and ducks to avoid getting hit, sneaks in with good trunk movement and scores to the body... I think he scored some 44 out of 55 jabs thrown in the 5th or 6th... Calzaghe was not just caught in that 4th with right hands and two uppercuts, he was tagged in the 5th, 6th and in the 8th, he was himself on the receiving end of big shots ( left hooks and right crosses thrown with a lot of leverage and power)... What happened was that Calzaghe fought through those punches, ate those shots and seriously discouraged Mikkel 30 seconds left in the 8th, opened up on him, hurt him with a well placed body shot with the right, just before Mike Ortega came in between when he was pounding on Kessler with awkward, looping left hook rabbit punches - the fight was already Calzaghe's by then but even more so from that point on, still ate a left hook after the interruption in the 8th and with less than 20 seconds to go... Calzaghe kept a hard, fast pace, always touching Mikkel first all the way since the second round when he opened up on Kessler at the 1:00 minute mark but he will have a much harder time finding Bernard's body and head, no question about it... and this is not underrating Mikkel Kessler!

You have obviously only watched Kessler once.

With all due respect, most of the guys on ESB have probably only seen Mikkel once.

I am talking about Kessler - Calzaghe but I have seen him in that shutout against Andrade and he still looked a little bit tight - he is just too muscled and bulked but has good boxing ability nonetheless. Also saw him against Beyer and a couple of early fights... Never saw him against Mundine, I admit. This has nothing to do with Kessler but with Calzaghe and Hopkins, man.

I see Kessler finding Taylor's chin with a lot of heavy right hands and stiff jabs but that has more to do with Taylor's vulnerable defense than with Kessler's versatility... I could already make a bet on that one - Kessler UD12 Taylor.

Cool. I can see a UD also, but I wouldn't rule out T/KO. Mikkel's powerful.
