you gave hopkins round 7 when calzaghe landed exactly twice as many punches 24 for calzaghe only 12 for hopkins, and round 3 you gave hopkins when he only landed 10 punches and calzaghe landed 23 :think whats the deal with that

I had it a bit closer than that but no doubt Hopkins won.

The deal with that is that (a) Compubox is not scientific fact, and that (b) the number of punches is not always the most important factor.

Taking point (a) - there are many times when Compubox gives skewed results. I don't know if you know how it works (I doubt it from your post), but it's basically two guys at ringside clicking PlayStation control pads whenever they think a punch is landed. It's far from infallible, very far indeed. In that round 7 I think Calzaghe misses with the vast majority of his punches, but at ringside those two suits may have thought that the slap-slurries were making glancing contact.

Taking point (b) - if fighter A lands 20 skimming, clipping, glancing blows while throwing innocuous slapping pitty-pat flurries, and fighter B lands 10 clean, hard punches, who wins the round? (round 7 is a good example of this, it's a clear Hopkins round if you know how to score boxing)

You sound like all that matters to you is Compubox. I think you should watch amateur boxing and leave the pro stuff to people who understand it :good

Read above. Hopkins fans want so desperately to rewrite history, but have to except the fact that HOPKINS LOST. Deal with it. You didnt make as big a deal when it was J Taylor, and Calzaghe beat Hopkins far more conviningly, having Hopkins holding on and trying to get timeout

Calzaghe landed some pity patter shots but he also LANDED MORE SOLID PUNCHES ON HOPKINS overall, outlanding Hopkins and dictating the fight. If Joe was only landing soft shots, then why wouldnt Hopkins come forward like he did against Pavlik? Because Joe was outlanding him and clearly beating him

I think a troll would be the one who scores 117-113 for Hopkins :patsch:lol:. Now thats a delusional troll.
You have to live with it and except Calzaghe won.

The hate for calzaghe is unbelievable on this forum. I hate the guy style to and wanted hopkins to whoop his ass. But no way did hopkins win that fight. What makes it even more humiliating is the fact he said he would never lose to a whiteboy then performed the way he did, faking injuries.

Funny how compubox don't mean anything when it comes to calzaghe v hopkins but it means everything when it comes to castillo v mayweather 1. This **** is ridiculous.

Some of the people on this thread have sorely exposed themselves as people who judge fights purely by Compubox statistics. Compubox statistics are useful, but they are obviously not the be all and end all of scoring boxing. Too many people on this thread should go back to the amateurs, this **** is embarrassing.
