Granted. But if you're gonna call out a guy and want to make the fight, you better be prepared to make an offer he can't refuse. Otherwise don't come wail through the media...just retire.
I think as Hopkins is the bigger name, you can make a good case for him taking the larger share of the pot. But, as I understand it, the pot is around 6 million dollars! Offering 500K out of several million dollars is frankly ridiculous, Ademek isn't a complete nobody, he is a champion. And Hopkins, let's face it, ain't normally the most exciting fighter in the world to watch. All this sounds like Hopkins has had second thoughts about the whole thing... 500K out of 6 million, who is he trying to kid?
Why does Hopkins keep playing the victim in all of this??? WHAT THE **** DO BHOP's past earning's and his road to success have to do with Adamek???Hmm he only made $300K vs Joppy BOO****INGHOO.Neither you nor Joppy bring the amount of fans that Adamek does. Throw this fight in Philly and see just how many fans Adamek does actually have. He's no big name but he also isnt a complete nobody.(BTW Mexicans LOVE Adamek). When the **** did Hopkins get so big headed? He really does seem to think he has reached Tsyon or Hoya status. Lose lose fight for Adamek anyway.Shitty money high risk wouldnt get full credit even if won.
If BHOPS really wanted the fight he'd find a way to make it. He saw the destruction of Banks and his toes got cold. Fighting Adamek in front of 20,000 Poles would be an absolute nightmare.
I disagree Reg. I think a 44-year-old moving up and dethroning the number 1 cruiser would be an awesome achievement, B-Hop's crowning glory that would live on for the ages, the jewel in the crown of a magnificent career.
The problem with your statement is that CW is not held in very high regards. I could just as easily see people dismissing this achievement as Hopkins picking up a belt in a weak division. Personally, I want to see the fight anyway. I think it would be a hell of an accomplishment.
I mean ****, the way I see it, The Duvas didnt think twice about putting Young Fernando in there with a monster like Tito when he had less than 20 fights, whats the hold up here? or perhaps they have learned from that experience.
So I understand when Hoipkins cashed $300K against Joppy, then Joppy actually got $30K in that fights ... right?
The cruiserweight division is seen as a weak division w/ an uninspiring history. But Adamek's stock is rising. He was a top lightheavyweight who has moved on to be cruiserweight champ. He has strung a nice set of wins together at cruiser. If Hopkins, at his age, could move up in weight and knock off a good fighter like Adamek then that would be big. No matter what the division is called that he fights in-Adamek is a good fighter and he's on a hot streak. Today and in the future this would be seen as one of Hopkins best wins. Hopkins has a lot to gain from this fight if he cares about how he's viewed when he is retired. This is all part of the negotiating anyways. I think this fight still gets made.
Please elaborate. He'd make more money fighting a scrub than fighting Hopkins for that little money, and obviously has a better chance at beating the scrub. He doesn't have much to gain by beating a 44 year old light heavyweight either - if he wins, people will just say Hopkins was too small and too old. Also, even if a win over Hopkins makes him more generally popular, it doesn't increase his earning potential much, since there are still no other big opponents who he could face. So why was Adamek's team dumb for not accepting a lowball offer?
It doesn't matter whether it's held in high regard though. What it would mean is that someone who is a natural 160 pounder was great enough that even when he was ancient, he STILL was able to beat the best 200 pounder. Seriously, a win over Adamek probably pushes Hopkins from top 50 ATG to top 30 ATG.
