Im not here disrespecting B-Hop. He's a legend, but he's hating here. I know the difference.

 

I like hopkins to, but don't be kissing floyd ass in one video then trying to snake him in another.

Is Floyd the best fighter ever? Of course not. I will find it strange if anyone actually believed that. So for Hopkins to even go on about it in such length is straight up hating. Hopkins is just butthurt that a WW didn't want to fight his old ass.

Ignant fans on this site talk about how much better technology and synthetic drugs have made this new generation of fighters. Yet, as BHOP pointed out, none of them have been able to accomplish 1/4 of what old school fighters like Armstrong or Moore.

Mayweather is a good fighter, but is he the greatest?
Hell no. Anybody who believes Floyd would have beaten SRL or even Aaron Pryor are fooling themselves.

BHOP and James Toney are the last of the old school fighters.
If we are lucky, we may get to see some of their old school mentaility live on in Andre Ward.

He was right though the media should be calling guys out now it's oh your a hater this and that ..If we held these guys to more accountability we wouldn't be subjctive to fights like Manny Clotty or Mayweather Maidana!

There would also be a thriving HW division !

That's my point. You can't go from praising his talents, and saying he's top 3, and then when things don't go your direction you flip-flop and discredit someone. That's what women do.

Floyd dad gave leonard a good fight, it isn't as far fetched as you suggest to believe that floyd couldn't do the same or earn a victory. So I don't agree with that point at all. I personally think the fight would be amazing to watch.

 

SRL was always too big for FLoyd, I mean this is a guy who was the SMW champion at one time in his career. But I'd favor Mayweather in a close decision over the Hawk. Pryor would definitely get to him at times and force Mayweather to fight all 3 minutes per round, but I'd still give the slight edge to FLoyd at 140 lbs between him and Pryor.

 

I find this video to be contradictory of Hopkins previous statements about FLoyd a few months ago, when he mentioned him as being one of the 3 greatest fighters in the history of boxing. He mentioned this in a couple interviews, so it's surprising to see this new video where he's taking jabs at him.

I thought Bernard was delusional for saying Floyd was a top 3 ATG.

 

Ceferino Garcia was MW Champion and most people think Armstrong won he is also a borderline ATG MW.

Hopkins resume is just as easy to pick apart.

Oscar - Not a MW was flabby and lost to Sturm

Wright - 170lb catchweight seriously?

Calzaghe - not a robbery

Pascal - prime and at his best on par with the Judah win.

 

I don't believe he's the greatest. But I do believe he's the best. As in one of the first to put it all together. And a lot of that has to do with being able to watch the people before you. Having things to look back on and knowing what to tweak.

Guys like Lebron, Floyd, Durant, Kobe, are only as good as they are because of being able to look back on certain competitors and pick up things, and tweak them to make them better.

Guys like SRR, Bill Russell etc. didn't have those things.

You can poke holes in every fighter in history's fight game, but not Floyd's. There are no holes.

It's about evolution dude. A lot of the things SRR/Jack Johnson etc. were doing would be considered amateurish now. The same way that Will Chamberlain scored 100 points in a game. Could he do that now? Hell no.
Could boxers fight 7-8 times a year now? Hell no.

It's just a different game. And living in the past, leaves you missing out on the now.


One day, there will be a fighter better than Floyd. Why? because he'll be able to look back on that ****, and grow from it. If there is no SRR then theres no Ali, theres no SRL, there is no Floyd. It's as simple as that.

People get so caught up in the past and fail to realize that "Greatest" and "Best" are the same thing. Greatness has a lot to do with being loved, and Floyd is pretty hated. But there is no argument that there is a fighter who put it all together like that. he has no areas in which he's lacking. Even his work ethic is unparalleled


Sugar Ray Leonard was just as talented as Floyd. Just as fast, bigger and stronger, but dabbled in drugs outside of the ring, which cost him some time inside the ring. Like I said, Floyd puts it all together. Maintained his body and stayed dedicated living in the capital of Sin.

no Cotto knows that Martinez is sliping and sees a chance to add a middleweight title to his legacy which will be a big boost for his legacy and will also make him a lot more money in the future if he wins it

My argument has nothing to do with money, if Floyd want to call himself the best or be mentioned in the same breath as Robinson ,Armstrong etc he should look to keep challenging himself and not be fighting someone like Maidana just for a big payday. With the money he has already made in his career i dont think having a few fights for his legacy would hurt him that much. And if he faught Martinez a few years ago he would have made a fortune so money has nothing to do with it
