No contest, immediate rematch if he can still fight. That way, even if he was faking he would have to face Dawson again or risk being stripped off his title and become irrelevant. Now Dawson can avoid a rematch if Hopkins is willing and fight Pascal instead.

I'm pretty sure it will overturned to a no contest like the Toney-Rahman II fight.

Most here on ESB classic were riding Hopkins' nuts after his last fight.
It's funny how you're really only as good as your last fight. :good

Hopkins' career has been a boring ugly spectacle for the best part of the last 5 or 6 years. The only thing that makes him admirable is how people keep writing him off because he's old.

I agree with my2sense, Dawson's lift wasn't much of a foul because it was just a reaction, an escape, from Hopkin's own attempt to foul/wrestle.
    These things happen.

I don't know if Hopkins was hurt or not, it's not for me to say. I reckon he should have tried to fight on a bit though. The result should stand. He quit.

Which was a bad ruling. Rahman blatantly quit.

Yeah it wasnt domination but Chad did manage to back Hopkins up with the sniper jab a few times. Hopkins managed to slip and evade the attacks that came but had that been in the 10th it may have been different.

Yes, we were, and rightly so. It was a magnificent performance in every way.

Sadly, time is probably finally catching up with Bernard, but I'm sure he has a few good nights left in him. He certainly didn't embarass himself last night. He was in great shape, and his footwork was fantastic, even by "young guy" standards.

I can't wait to see his next bout, whomever it's against.

Anyone think that was shaping up to be a seriously interesting contest?

    Yep.

Hopkins clearly had decided to fight in "Mayweather" style against Dawson. Sadly, Dawson looked afraid to throw for the first few rounds, so it was a boring fight - but not Bernard's fault. I think Dawson would have had to turn up his output in the following rounds.

If the shoulder was so badly hurt why did he keep rolling on to it? And people are viewing it from the slow mo replays and making the shove look more than it was. Bottom line: There's no way a fully grown man should get an injury like that from a mild shove like that. I mean there's 2 main points

    1. HOPKINS FEET DIDN'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE CANVAS WHEN CHAD SHOVED HIM
    2. His feet landed first so surely, as a professional athlete, such an injury inducing fall could have been avoided.

Absolute bull**** he knew he had no business in the ring with Dawson last night it woulda been a late TKO or lopsided decision had it continued, I think most people agree.

Hops is an out and out politician, saying he wanted to continue and the ref didn't let him (which I doubt is true) is fishing for that NC big time

Chad to me came to win the fight and intent on not letting Bernard do his dirty **** all night and make another ugly fight for fans. I have no problem with him shoving him off, his way of saying "stand up and fight like a man". Chad was bigger, stronger and faster and there is no way Bernard could have stood toe to toe with him and he was going to throw one punch and hold all night. I don't care how they rule it in the end, Dawson said no way on a rematch and good, who wants to see it? Not me, Hopkins should retire, I want to see fights, not wrestling and the WWE. That's what this reminded me of last night. Except Hopkins didn't pull a Hulk Hogan and get back up and body slam Dawson. In my gut, I think Bernard quit, but only he knows. He needs to retire now in my opinion. He looked slow and weak, father time finally caught him I think, and I also think he figured that out pretty quick when Dawson caught him with that little left behind the ear in the first. Either way it goes, I'm looking forward to seeing Dawson-Pascal 2, whether he still has the belt by then or not.

TKO victory for Dawson. The ref did the right thing, both fouls cancelled each other out. If Chad had picked B-Hop up without holding his head then we would have had a DQ. If B-Hop fell from a slip, we would have a no-contest and that would end that.
