Actually idiot, you read too much into the point I was making.
It's not so much that Hopkins is "piggybacking" on Kovalev, but rather Hopkins uses the opportunity when a reporter asks a question regarding Kovalev, Mayweather, GGG, Stevenson, Ward, or any other name other then himself, he uses it to spin it into a Bernard Hopkins opportunity.

Kovalev is definitely a nobody, but if reporters ask about a nobody, you can bet Hopkins will use it for his own PR.

Hopkins is just in perpetual self promotion mode. If they ask him what he thought about last week's Pac-Bradley fight Hopkins will use that as an opportunity to hype Bernard Hopkins.
When he retires he's going to make a great boxing promoter.

Kovalev is on the cover of Ring magazine who essentially proclaim him to be the next big thing and claim Adonis/Kovalev is the biggest fight in boxing.

Kovalev does insane numbers against an ACTUAL nobody in Cedric Agnew.

    He's a nobody alright.

Hopkins is an all time great but he wouldnt beat Kovalev or Adonis now, im not even sure if he will get past Shumenov.

I think he said recently that he would beat Kovalev in a fight easily, this is silly talk, he lost to Dawson ,beat Cloud and Murat and hasnt looked very impressive in any of those fights but still wins none the less. So how he thinks his going to beat Kovalev easily nearing 50 is bull****.

Hopkins would beat or have a good chance of beating everyone in the light heavyweight division apart from Adonis and Kovalev and thats why his not going to fight them.

Honourable mention i think Artur Beterbiev will be the next big thing at light heavyweight(arguably the hardest hitting amateur ever p4p)

Hopkins refused to fight Kovalev when Kovalev was his mandatory, so rather than wait forever Kovalev knocked out Cleverly for the WBO title. Hopkins said he would never fight Kovalev or Stevenson..................
