I saw the replay last night. Typical Hopkins fight, it sucked! I think Hopkins may actually hold more than Jawny Ruiz.....and look at all the **** Ruiz has to take. Hopkins did his usual throw one puch and hold tactic. I know the guy is 43 but this is the type **** that is killing boxing. The average viewer does not want to all this holding, regardless of how many times the announcers say how crafty or wiley he is.

I'd like to see both fighters retire. Both have made more money than they ever thought they would. Calzaghe can retire in glory back in Britian and Hopkins can go home and count his money and spare me the agony of ever having to watch him fight again.

What does age have to do with faking a low blow to buy time. It is the faking that was a disgrace!

If he is a legend, all the more sad were his tactics in the 10th round.

Can you imagine Carlos Monzon, Ray Robinson, Harry Greb, etc. pulling that sort of stunt?

No footage of Greb, and by all accounts he was a master of dirty tactics. Ray Robinson and Monzon never fought at such an advanced age so it's a mute point. Most likely they would have been dominated and stoped early against an elite fighter at such an age.

he did'nt disgrace anything. his performance at an advanced age against a great fighter was actually comendable.

who cares if he held he had to because if he would have gone toe to toe he would have been annihilated and they are the wrong tactics for the job theres so many boxing styles and its a sport of horses for courses calzaghe offers a very unorthodox fighting style and hopkins neutralised and fought at his pace. Most joes shots hit arms shoulders or back hopkins were actual meaningful punches anyone can get in and flail their arms like a lunatic and land some but its technique and tactics that matter and bernard showed both. I advise you to watch other fights where this has been the case....mayweather de la hoya where oscar threw crowd pleasing flurries but didnt land **** whereas floyd pot shotted and threw single accurate punches and tied him up. floyd employed the right tatcics because if he'd have gone toe to toe he would have been KOed

Haha.... What did you expect man! Hop is 43! Joe was always going to win. This isn't a 35 or 36 year old Bhop that Joe beat...it was a OLD Hopkins.

With that said Joe did very well. He adapted great with the crafty ring legend. Hop wasn't fighting a fan friendly style but a very tactical and pre-meditated style.

Hop did control much of the fight and he landed bigger cleaner shots. Joe was just too fast, busy and intelligent in there. Hopkins faught a LOT better fight than I thought and the closeness of the fight proved that.

Props to Joe for beating a true legend but was there ever really a doubt before the fight happened who the winner would be? I for one knew Joe would win and I knew Hop would do well in spots....I just didn't think he'd do that well in that many rounds. THe KD didn't surprise me but I didn't begin to worry if Joe would come back. Good fight by both men.

Hopkins learned on that on the streets of Philadelphia. When you are getting beat by a white boy, you fake low blows to get out of the fight and save face with your dogs.

Oh yes he did and he as always done it. He calls himself a legend for boxing. More like a legend for cheating and people wonder why he had so many close decisions. Another thing for him to say in the pre fight talk that Calzaghe should say bye to his kids shows what an utter ****** he actually is.

he was hyping the fight, duh. and his "cheating" wasn't that bad. a lot of clinches yes but a lot of em were a result of two awkward fighters coming together

I still do not understand how advanced age justifies cheating and faking!

Nard should be commended for being able to fight at age 43 and he should be villified for cheating and faking!!
