Do you think Hopkins is still a little bitter that HBO basically built up Jermain Taylor's name off of his back and doesn't want the same thing to happen with Dawson?

I have to go down with this fair line from lefthook31. Hopkins is not that sure to make so much money against Green but he definitely takes on less risk for avoiding Chad for the youth, the slickster, slippery right-handed style, the speed and the footwork and most of all, the workrate which has been proven to be deadly against aged warriors. Hopkins moves away and that's a point scored by Dawson who becomes the numba ONE LHWT no doubts about it...

He has made it abundandtly clear that he wants no part of Dawson. It's unfortunate for all of us, but you can't really hold it against him at this stage. Dawson has a job on his hands to increase his profile.

No I think he knows the deal. Hopkins is 45 he is not the future of boxing. If HBO is the paymaster, he has to abide by the rules in which they dictate to get a fight on their network. He can talk all he wants, but at the end of the day, HBO is in control of who they want fighting on their network so if he wants to get paid big bucks and fight on HBO he has to keep beating their young guys. From what I heard HBO was never even interested in the Jones Hopkins II fight, and they were somewhat relieved that Jones lost.
Theyre not going to let him fight some no namer, in fact HBO has become pretty tough with all its fighters lately. If Hopkins wants to be in the game, than he should be in the game and fight the best guys. Noone wants to watch Hopkins fight Danny Green, a guy hes supposed to beat, thats why he had to fight that other guy on some offbeat network.

At Hopkins age I am not sure this is considered ducking. He is not going to have another reign as champion, so his goal is to look for lucrative fights. Dawson should try and fight current champions and fighters and ignore Bernard, who is from a different era.

I agree, Dawson has been fighting the older guys for 4 friggin fights in a row now, enough already. Let him start dealing with guys his own age.

Although admittedly, BHop's is still a more respectable scalp to collect than that of any of the younger guys in the division. The thing is, Bernard just doesn't seem interested, and Dawson shouldn't waste any time chasing him.

hopkins is an atg. so you cant take anything away from him. but deep down, hopkins dosent want to tango with dawson. he wants a bigger money fight plus a young fast skilled fighter like him would not be an easy fight. one he would probably lose.

If the numbers were right, Hopkins would fight Dawson. It's that simple.

LOL he couldn't even beat Taylor, who has numerous flaws in his game, Dawson would beat him quite easily at this point.

First of all there is a shitload of people in Australia that want to see the fight.
Hopkins will get at least twice as much fighting in Australia against Green then he will against Dawson:deal
I know Americans don't realize this but there is a whole world out there:patsch
Bhop will be guaranteed close to 4mil if he fights Danny and if the fight is a sucsess he could pocket more.
If this fight is held in Perth or Melbourne they will get a live gate of over 20,000 min in what would be a huge fight in oz.
Although it would be a sad end to bhops great career after he's KO at least he'll get a decent payday for his retirement .

  15. Hopkins should be careful. Won't he get robbed if he goes down to Europe to fight Danny Green?
