This fight doesnt mean anything anymore...had it happened 7-10 years ago different story. Does this fight do anything for either of them realistically?

Hopkins is a cherry picker always has been. ****, Calzaghe had to go to the states, approach in IN PERSON, get him angry, make him show his true racist colours BEFORE getting a matchup with him! The Winky fight - Winky was overweight and still it was close. DLH - Smaller Tito - Smaller Pavlik - Good but limited repetoire Cherry picked. if Hopkins truly cared he'd take the Jones fight and shut Jones up - but he won't and this transcript prove it.
I don't know on this one. I think it was bull**** tbh he didn't seem to care in the later half of his career, heck Jones was even willing to come to the UK for their fight so money obviously played a role there which gives you an idea of what a load of BS that was. If you're asking do I think Calzaghe stayed at home and played safe then yeah I'm pretty sure he did Dan but that's me being utterly unbiased. I think both these guys were quiet selective they had every chance to move aup, face each other/other guys but played safe for their defences. Tito/DLh are more 'name' than anything Joe fought early in his career but as a fan I look at challenges - not names regardless of how popular they may be if that helps see from my POV :good Hopkins definitely took more risks but neither took any real risks imo other than when Hopkins fought Jones the first time. Hopkins never wanted a rematch during his prime and Joe didn't want to leave the UK safe ground. Neither of these guys are innocent of cherry picking and it annoys me. Jones at least continually chased greatenmess till he got caught by Tarver that's why i love him so much. He took risks and is still chasing greatness even if he can't reach it.
P.S. Genuinely - I swear to you - I had Hopkins winning the Pavlik fight I truly did I just knew he'd win it was cut & dry for me it was a stylistic mismatch even if most other's picked Pavlik. I knew he'd win. I stuck £60 on that and came away with over £200
Fair enough. It's good to see you're not blind to Joe's own shortcomings. I was there for that masterclass from Hopkins.
Joe has a lot to answer for! The only person he can blame if people don't think him great is himself. Both him & Hopkins have buckets of talent that i feel they wasted. I bet you were one of just a few who backed Hopkins to win; must have been funny seeing that live with all the expectant Pavlik fans!!
