Our definations of 'elite' must be quite different. I would classify elite such boxers like Roy Jones, Floyd,Pacman,Barrera, etc
So since Joe barely got past a 43 year old fighter, we are know supposed to say that his resume is better as a whole than Hopkins? What great logic you display
I'm still waiting for your answer 196osh!! By the way, contary to what you may believe, I DO have respect for Hopkins. It's not his fault he has been made out to be something he's not by the press/fans etc
Glen Johnson is an elite fighter and Hopkins dominated him. Tarver was very close to being elite. If we were to go down your road I could say: "what elite fighters that were as big as him did Hagler beat" or "what in elite fighters did Lewis beat that were not old" You have an agenda and I shall not play to it anymore. Goodbye.
Elite? No but way above ****ing average. These are multiple world champions he pasted his own size. This is one of the hands down best records in boxing. Even if you take off the de la Hoya's, Tito's and Wrights.
You honestly think Glen Johnson is an elite fighter? A good fighter yes, but 'elite'? Maybe I should start a poll and see how many agree:hey
You are entitled to your opinion SweetPea, but like most posters have not actually addressed any of the points.
I am from the UK and I thought Bernard did a tremendous job considering he is 43. You cannot expose BHOP because he is the real deal and has proven it time and again.
I agree with your first sentence. For 43 Hopkins is in magnificent shape. However, all the elite victories on his record are of fighters naturally smaller than him ie DLH,Wright,Trinidad. The elite fighters of his own size have all resulted in losses,Jones,Taylor x 2,Cazaghe. To those who have posted some rather **** poor replies, THIS is the point I am making. So far no one has been successful in arguing against this. The best anyone has come up with is Johnson, and Tarver(???)
I'm pretty sure many people on this board in retrospect would rate the Johnson that Hopkins beat as a better P4P fighter than Taylor. Not many classify Taylor as a elite fighter
What? Taylor is somehow elite yet Tarver and Johnson aren't? And Hopkins beat Taylor the first time, anyway. By the way, going by your theory, Hopkins was the naturally smaller man against Calzaghe. :deal Otherwise add Trinidad, cause he had filled out 160 real well.
AT LAST!! A poster coherent and intelligent enough to make a rational argument. You MAY well be right. It really depends on what Taylor does from here on in I guess
