Firstly this isn't a hating post aimed at Hopkins i'm just after some honest opinions on this because I don't think I've read any on that incident from the Hopkins fans.

How embarrassed were you when he blatantly feigned injury against Calzaghe to bide time and attempt to get some points deducted? And not once but TWICE.

If it was my favourite fighter (Calzaghe) doing that I would be ashamed and would certainly lose some of my respect for the man.

I would definitely lose some respect for him, it's a 43 year old that everyone expected to be iced within 5-6 rounds at most yet the opposite nearly happened in the first, explain please.

That was a pretty ***** move, but still smart. Hopkins is the kind of fighter that doesn't seem to give a **** about what other people think of him, just winning, and he saw and opportunity to give himself a better shot at winning by faking being hurt to take a rest. Oh well, I don't much give a damn about Hopkins, don't love him or hate him, he is (was) a great fighter, though.

An excellent performance by Mayweather and an excellent right hand by Hopkins that Calzaghe managed to nullify as the fight went on.

    Now answer my question. :good

Oh you can laugh all you want, yes there were MANY that picked that and the rest actually gave Hopkins no chance at all and claimed the towel will be all over the ring by the 10th at most. This is hardly coming out of my pocket, it's based on what I read here and other sites.

Was a pathetic move, clearly a desperate move to try and secure the fight or try to make it closer than it already was. A huge Hopkins fan and yes was very embarrassed and also worried as that happened.

Hopkins is an extremely intelligent, crafty fighter. I wasn't disappointed in the least.

He tried to do whatever he needed to do to win, and he came damn close to doing so. On my scorecard, I had Hopkins up a point at the end.

That said, I was impressed by Calzaghe.

Who would doubt an athlete if he was hit low regarding the effect except some nut-hugging Calzaghe fan? You would need a different context (not merely because it was late in a fight) or some other information to demonstrate otherwise ... I'm not AT ALL convinced he faked anything. You have some 'dick' meter to judge the impact or lack thereof?

This wasn't anything like the German farce with Miranda where Abraham was crying to the ref for help from the absolute get go ... there is no disputing Joe's powderpuff punch went low ... but if you're a man you would know that you just have to be 'situated' imperfectly to be bothered by some unanticipated shot to the area .. cup or no cup .. hard punch or Joe Calzaghe slap.

You're reaching for some defense of how crappy Joe looked .. face it .. he's not an elite .. he just appeared so (to you) because he never fought anyone elite ... just an abundance of Euro bums ...

Who the **** thought Hopkins was going to be stopped in 5-6 rounds? Stop talking out of your arse. Calzaghe is feather fisted and Hopkins has never been stopped.

It bothered me at the time, because I thought that biased **** Cortez would buy it hook line and sinker, he hardly needs an Oscar nominated performance from the home fighter to start deducting points

Had the result of been different I'd probably be mad, but it just looks comical and desperate now
