i am a Hopkins fan. However I think his age finally cought up with him in this fight and i don't blame hime for using his experience to catch a break. Calzaghe set a pace that Hopkins couldn't live with. For whoever thought Hopkins beat Calzaghe, i'd like to point out that no points are given for holding and headbutting. Just to be clear on that.
Not a hopkins fan!! but yeah it was a ***** move but a smart one at that its no different from over exaggerating contact in the penalty area and diving in football (soccer) he felt he got hit low he took a break came back and won the 1oth and 11th on my scorecard. If i was you i'd be more disappointed in calzaghe's performance...i felt he lost and correct you don't get points for holding and headbutting BUT you don't for ineffective aggression either...you do for defense clean punchign and ring generalship which IMO made hopkins win the fight that night
he is one of the boxers i respect the most, for all his has done, and how people under rate him, his a living legend
I didn't think it was too smart bc some of those round he was winning but bc he it was an obvious fake than it seems the rounds was won by joe.
the video of the fight shows he was clearly hit low. whether the punch hurt his nads we don't know (it could have). he did the smart thing by milking a bit extra time. it's not like hopkins was in danger of being ko'd or collapsing from exhaustion and totally faked a low blow. fighting that mad slapper is tiring for anyone, one of the slaps strayed low, and an older fighter took a little extra rest. btw, both fighter should be embarassed for such a poor "elite level" fight. and say what anyone wants, the fight was very close b/c jc's punches could barely crack an egg, so i don't know how proud calzaghe's fans can be after the fight.
That's a good take .... It may be that many Euro fighters have vaginas between their legs but their fans that are questioning Hop's veracity are surely non-athletes ... no one .. NO ONE ... questions other athletes about whether a shot to the groin hurt or not ... that's f*cking ridiculous. If anything you always assume it did hurt ... especially if you in some fashion (accidently) caused or contributed to the groin smack ...
Hopkins fights like Barbara Bush and George HW Bush **** at night. Boring, slow, lethargic and old. Hopkins played the fool, by faking injury, and in all reality, all he did was show the World what a coward he really is. He represented GBP perfectly that night. Long Live the Italian Dragon.
Yeah, got to agree. At the time I wasn't too impressed with what he did but on reflection?? He's a clever, crafty ****er and in the end no worse is done on most weekends in most stadia around the world. Rivaldo's ball-in-the-face episode is testament to this. Saying that though, of course I ain't impressed.
