Bernard is old now. He's starting to slur his words a bit and goes off on incomprehensible tangents these days. A Joe Smith Jr fight wouldn't have been that dangerous for him closer to his prime years... but in his current state, it most definitely is. Smith Jr can crack.

Win or lose, B-Hop should hang 'em up after this. He's had a great career and there's no need to potentially tarnish it from this point.

I just wish he'd retire at this point, he has nothing left to prove. He'll be 52 and not fought in over 2 years by the time he steps in the ring with Smith. Sure Smith has a style that suits Hopkins but at this stage it's a risk he doesn't need to take, he will have only gotten worse in the last 2 years and you can't cheat time.

Can´t cheat time? This Hopkins we are talking about. He has cheated time for decades now. But at the age of 51, how much does he have left? So far he has looked good in camp but Smith is no pushover.

ward couldnt make 168 huh? then why did he contact k2? you know he weighed 171 for the smith fight right?

"ward couldnt make 168" is an excuse conjured up by the bumdog superfans to explain the cowardice on the part of golovkin

Bernard should just retire, this is a bad style matchup for him, I was I think the only guy on here that not only knew who Joe was but picked him to win the Fonfara match by KO, while I think Hopkins will last longer than Fonfara did I think Smith will break him down and stop him in the middle rounds, Smith has great accuracy, good angles, good workrate, and is relentless, I think the last round of the Kovalev match did permanent damage to Bernard, his speech hasn't quite been the same since, he's still okay, but has seemed a slight step off from what he was before the match. He's been out of the ring too long, and this is not a great match to take if you're rusty, and I don't see how there's anyway he couldn't be, especially at 51.

Hopkins is damn lucky he saw the end of the Kovalev match with his never being KO'd record intact, but sadly this might be his Holmes-Ail moment.

I've said I'd never pick against B-Hop anymore unless he's fighting a real worldbeater, so make it happen old man.

Joe Smith is no Kovalev. I pick Hopkins by 116:112 type decision!

I can only think Rumsfeld must have been hitting the bong a bit to hard yesterday to like the above post and don't think any of those three decisions were 'horrendous'.

I'd also struggle to justify him being any higher than 4th in my middleweight rankings all things considered. Could I rank him above Monzon, Hagler, Robinson? Definitely not. The division has been stacked with talent over the years and I think you could easily place him much lower down than 4th without too much controversy.

Well to be fair, Mayweather went out on Berto, this is better.

Good luck to Hopkins, I've never been a fan but he has had a great career hopefully he can end it in style.

No. Not all opinions are created equal. For example, if I say Dustin Nichols is an ATG boxer, it's an opinion, but not a credible one.
