It's a dangerous fight though, for Hopkins at this stage. Years ago this fight would have been looked at as a joke.
Yes, but Hopkins is 51 years old now and has been inactive for 2 years. Smith is a big guy who can bang and has some skills to go with it. Hopkins is going to have to rely heavily on his smarts and experience if he's going to beat this guy.
A few years ago this would have been an easy fight probably, but considering the circumstances with age and inactivity, you can't help but think of how dangerous this fight is for old popkins.
I hope B Hop retires with a win. Its a good fight cuz Fonfara was about to be matched with Adonis next lol, so taking on Joe Smith isn't an easy fight for someone that wants to retire. B Hop is really an ATG in terms of attitude, skill and ring IQ. B Hop should have his own gym in Philly after he retires and teach the young what a true great is all about.
chi...lets be real....a guy like fonfara would prob have his way with golovkin....im not even joking here...he'd prob walk right through golovkin....and hurt him when he hit him...im not even kidding here.....theres a reason golovkin stays put.......the guy didn't even want it with featherfists ward at 168......a guy like fonfara might be one of the worst matchups for golovkin at 175 he could ever imagine
lmfao GGG would knock the head off the Girraffe Neck with his jab. MOF.....Curtis Stevens would yank Girrafe Necks head off into the 4th row inside 20 seconds.
the same Curtis stevens that got worked by marcos primera(ill give him credit at least he avenged that loss to the d level club guy) and jesse Brinkley? lol fonfara would walk through golovkin and hurt him.....that's why ggg stays in his lane....fighting dom wade and welterweights
Dominic Wade would take Girraffe Necks head off his shoulders. Canelo would as well. Hell, I'd give Paulie Malinaggi a shot at scoring a KO over Girraffe Neck. Come on shock......use some cognitive thinking. China chin wouldnt survive 4 rds with anyone that can punch and has any semblance of hand speed or footwork advantage over him.
The age mixed with the inactivity makes me really question how much Bhop's got left. Plus, Smith, Jr. is coming of that career high of the Fonfara KO and he will be young and confident when he steps in that ring. In his day Hopkins would neutralize and dominate him, but now I'm not sure. It will be interesting to find out.
Have to confess I thought you were nuts predicting that as I was a Fonfara fan,for the record let's say Smith and Fonfara had a re match how do you think it would go as Fonfara made tha fatal mistake of walking down a hurt opponent, kind of like how Manny did against Marquez,I could be wrong but there's nothing more dangerous than a hurt opponent fighting for their life. After that supposed upset it made me an instant fan of Joe Smith Jnr,did Fonfara have a bad night as can happen or is Joe Smith that good,I guess we shall find out in Smiths next outing. If BHop can still perform like he did v Pascal then I fancy his chances?
Just out of interest, what in particular alerted you to Joe Smith's upset potential? I only saw the boxrec - local fights and a loss to someone with a losing record. After the Fonfara fight, I assumed it was just a freak KO - and that even a severely degraded Bhop might be too clever.... now I am thinking it might be sanctioned OAP abuse!
