It's a good thing his son avenged that loss. But if Hopkins happens to lose, will Demetrius avenge his loss??
Yeah but I'm pretty sure even Omar could have beaten Wiley. Maybe that can set up Sergey getting revenge on Smith like in Rocky 4. Only the Russian will be the fan favorite this time around.
People who claim Hopkins is so boring are usually just haters. He's had stinkers as have 95% of the pros out there. He's also had his share of entertaining fights, he wasn't a boring fighter at middleweight when he was much younger. Most of these people claiming he is boring are people who only know of him from the Taylor fights at time period when a 6'1 39 year old man had already ceased being able to fight a full hard 12 rounds while still making 160 pounds. Post Taylor, he's been in more entertaining scraps then stinkers.
...poor Joe has proven nothing, except that he can net one good result over a decent but imperfect fighter with a long skinny neck and predilection for leaving his chin hanging in the air.
Not a bad fight and should be pretty interesting to see how it plays out. Hopkins will be a month shy of 52 and inactive for over 2 years by fight time so its hard to say just how much is left in the old guy and that will be the deciding factor in this fight. Smith has that big win over Fonfara but I'm not sold on him yet. Before that his best win was probably Rosinsky, a decent fighter but nothing special, and besides a few competent journeymen mixed in there that's basically his entire record. A win for Smith, even with Hopkins age, would be great for his career but I think Hopkins still has enough left in him physically when combined with his ring smarts and experience to beat Smith.
I dont think Hopkins has anyone else that he would care to fight. He already lost to Kovalev and doesn´t want to fight Ward, so who else is there? Stevenson. If Hopkins can get his hands on Stevenson, he will keep on fighting, but thats unlikely.
