Has there ever been worse farewell fight for legend than this one? I mean they made it a huge deal he picked Smith told pre fight that he is average, average Joe, declered that he himself is special and superior, also previous comments about never loosing to white boy at least to me seemed to be reason why he picked smith. Then he gets dominated losing every round (i dont care what hbo said they had it draw i believe) gets knocked out of a ring is cuncused has that shiny thing on back of his head and starts talking nonsense. Then says he was pushed out and is not humble in defeat. That is the way he went out. I think he should have atleast have another low key fight just beat some tomato can and go out victoruous. Also Lampley was very cold he was like "Now that Bernards career is over with..." So has there been worse final fights? SRL vs Camacho is close i guess.
Would've loved to have seen Dre go out like that but he ducked out of the fire escape just as things were heating up and hung up his gloves because his poor widdle body was ''breaking down''
Hopkins has been a smear on this sport for a long time. It was a fitting way for him to go out. He is just a bad person, and is extremely narcissistic. One of the worst representatives of American boxing during my lifetime as a boxing fan, that is for sure.
Hasim Rahman losing his last fight to a guy with 3-2 record was worse IMO. Furthermore, the guy that beat him had just 1 fight in the last 6 years, and it was a loss to an opponent with 0-10-2 record. I think it's hard to find worse loss for a former world champion in his farewell fight. Smith at least was top 20 LHW fighter when he beat Hopkins. Nansen wasn't top 500 or even top 800 HW when he beat Rahman
I mean that ending is like worse posible way how it could end... What worse could have hapened some monitor falling on him...
He shouldn’t have fought again after the kovalev fight he lost but he gave a good account of himself this fight was just embarrassing
Fair but it was low key and not televised. Also he was not literary knocked out of ring. But his first defeat aginst rahman would top hopkins if it were his farewell fight... Computer landed on top of him
Agreed should have stoped after Kovalev. Or like Roy Jones ko some bare knuckle guy and call it quits
Hindsight is 20/20, but coming back at 52-years-old after more than two years off was exceptionally stupid, especially against a massive puncher. You could clearly see in the first round that B-Hop's legs were gone. First hard shot Smith landed had him shaky. And even when Hopkins let the occasional power shot go, there was absolutely no sting or snap to his punches.
He landed on his head. Luckily all those years spent using it as a battering ram had hardened it to such and extent it saved him from serious injury. Trying to make out he'd been pushed out was a real female dog move though.
Had he retired after Ruiz he would be considered one of goats, even after first Tarver fight he would still be ranked pretty high After trilogy still all time top 25 but as it is he usually dosent get ranked that high pfp
I feel sorry for Roy the second half of his career ruined his historical standing and he never got the paydays he deserved
