It's round 2. But as we both agreed, not a big deal for Joe. Round 3 was all Joe's, he beat Mikkel to the punch every time and brought all the action to him.

That was exactly my point. I didn't see Kessler follow up like I would have wanted him to. On the other hand Kess new that Calzaghe is good at rebounding immediately. But in my philosophy of boxing it is a champs quality to follow up.

  3. Yeah, was nice work by Kessler he obviously trained to handle Joe's slaps. Think I have to rewatch that fight when I get back from work now.

Yes! it sure is. But what impressed me also was the way Calzaghe took blows to his stomach. You can hear from the sound of the hits that they landed pretty well. To my eyes they didn't rock Calzaghe. I think the way Calzaghe absorbes hits to his "belly" is equally impressive.

I was just thinking the same thing. I watched the whole fight again and Kessler landed some very hard looking blows but calzaghe just didn't seem phased at all. It's surprising man, because Calzaghe doesn't look like his body could handle those kind of shots.

the only person hurt in that fight was Kessler who was a milisecond away from being floored if the ref hadnt have intervened.

Would have been a stoppage otherwise, ref saved your boy.

That's true. The ref shouldn't have stepped in.

Yeah, however, if you watch closely. Well...I should say, at least to my eyes, Kessler never finds the foot-stance that gives him a chance to deliver the decisive blow. Kessler never gets the time to put himself in a position where he can put ALL his bodyweight behind his power punches. Probably due to JCs speed IMO!

What you're saying has been said before by Calzaghe Nuthuggers. Lately in this thread we have tried to back our statements with short clips from the fight. It would be great if you could do the same. In what instant do you see Kessler being on the verge of being knocked down? Even when he slipped some nuthuggers claimed he was hurt. I don't think a close look at the video supports that at all.

You say "...your boy...". I happen to like JC too. So I don't know where you got that from?????

I have been saying Calzagh beats Hopkins for years, long before Hop beat Taver. The problems Bernard has with Calzaghe are the same now as they were two years ago.

Even though I disagree with his opinion on this occassion 196osh is a very well rounded poster. I think he gave a simple answer because he, and many others, are tired of these threads. I don't see the Hopkins that fought Tarver being that different to the one that will fight Joe.

By the way, I'm going for a close Hopkins UD now & 2 years ago.:good

How about you dont mouth off when somebody has a different opinion to you pumpkin, :good

Hopkins has not declined so much from that fight and Calzaghe is the same fighter that he was. I would pick Calzaghe to beat prime Hopkins just about.
