Hopkins: GGG Should Fight Winner of Kovalev-Ward

Why is it so hard to understand that he's not a huge MW and he's got goals that he wants to achieve?

Bernard waited 6 years to unify and he spent 14 years in the division.

 

I honestly think he will seek out challenges after he's accomplished his MW goals.

I've got to respect for Bernard when he comes out with this sort of nonsense.

Regarding Roy, he did challenge himself.

Does GGG have 14 years left in his career? Not likely. He might not even have 6. He's not Bernard. And no one is asking him to be. People just want to see him in meaningful fights. Not waiting on vacant belts (due to reluctant opposition) or bringing up WWs. If he can move up for Froch or JCC JR he can do it for capturing a legitimate title(s) vs guys who would welcome the challenge.

 

Only 3 or 4 more MW fights to go. Your record will be properly broken and Golovkin can move up like you want old man.

 

A guy who fought at MW for 14 years, when he could have fought better opponents at SMW/LHW?

Bernard even remained at MW, 4/5 years after he'd unified.

GG still hasn't obtained all the belts, and he hasn't got any options at SMW at this stage. It's okay asking him to go to LHW, but Bernard wouldn't have done so in GG's current position, and I don't believe he'd ever have gone up had he been GG's size.

 

I appreciate everything you've said. But the point is, Bernard is asking him to do something that he'd never have done himself had he been in his position. He needs to close his mouth. This is the guy who wouldn't fight Roy at a 168 CW to see who the best fighter in the world was.

Dumb idea. GGG needs to fight Canelo then move up for a superfight against the winner of that fight.
