Hopkins has to be top 10-15 ATG

all an underdog means is people doubt your skill againt the man in front of you.
Mayweather is one of the ATG he would have to fight 168lbders to be an underdog . THink about that

Not sure if I agree with that because Fighter A could be the superior fighter but Fighter B is the favorite due to a superior size advantage that closes the skill gap. In which case Fighter A is the underdog even though he is the better fighter.

More often than not though its usually a guy facing somebody who IS considered better that warrants the underdog lable.

 

I can understand the criticism. But here's the thing. How many 48 yr olds can do what Bhop has done? Hell, how many 40 yr olds can do it? Longevity is very underrated among boxing fans. Why? I don't understand this. Many ATGs were never able to fight at a high level at well over 40 yrs of age. A car can run extremely fast. Another car may travel at a good speed but not as fast. But if this car's engine can last longer why wouldn't it be special?

Vitali and JMM are still going strong and I suspect we'll see more old fighters last longer than ever but they will still be a minority group. I don't know about top 10-15 for Bhop but if Pascal and Cloud move on to achieve great things then that certainly raises Bhop's stock and it wouldn't be crazy to at least put him in the discussion as such a highly ranked ATG.

This is just merely opinion. All of these fighters still can enhance (except Jones) or detract (except Hopkins) from their legacy. Let history 30 years from now tell the tale.

 

I don't know how to rank the older fighter who beats mediocre champions. Since he lost to Calzaghe and Dawson and Taylor in the last 8 years. It is great he can beat guys at 48, but is that an ATG ranking or just a legacy thing? Hard to know.I don't know. Can we rank a guy much higher for beating Cloud and Pascal if he is 48? does that mean at 28 he could have beaten Hagler and Monzon at middleweight?

 

Nah. If you rank fighters based on how good they did at an older age ok... But accomplishments no. He had a lot of title defenses at middle against mediocre competition. Lightheavy resume is good but not close to great. Great fighter but nowhere near top 15

hELL NO. I don't even rank him above Jones as for ATG ranking. Outside of Trinidad who the hell did he fight at 160? Be honest plus he lost to Jones when the first met and it was easy. I do give him his props for his longevity but these current guys at 175 couldn't whip the Montel Griffins and crop of fighters in the 90's at that weight. Yes Hopkins showed that skills pay the bills against Cloud but that ****ing Cloud had no business letting a 48 year old control the pace of the fight . Damn shame.

 

pavlik had very good stamina (when hopkins fought him at least)

you can literally break every fighter's resume and **** on it, but it doesn't matter, hopkins is so far past the term atg he's coming up the other side
