Bhop gets credit for beating up guys (oscar and tito) coming several weight classes to meet him then Floyd should get credit for JMM coming up several weight classes to meet him as well. Again the difference is that Floyd tried to give JMM a chance by the catchweight when in reality, he does not need to bc JMM was the challenger.
A top 10-15 ATG wouldn't drop 2 decisions to a fighter like Jermaine Taylor. You can't ignore losses and draws on a resume. And for all the stick Floyd gets for protecting his '0' it counts for a lot. He's on a level above Hopkins - could you ever really see Floyd dropping 2 decisions to a fighter on Taylor's level? No disrespect to Hopkins (or Taylor for that matter), his longevity is stunning but to rate him anywhere near as high as top 10 ATG is crazy.
Trying to rate fighters as all time greats and stacking them in a vertical collum in an order based on what you think is important is ludicrous, and boils down to an educated opinion but an opinion none the less.( some not so educated ). What is the critera for a fighter to become an all time great? I think that once a fighter meets that criteria, then he shouldn't take a back seat to any other fighter that has also met that critera. You might like one better than the other but that don't make him no less an ATG. Math is the only exact science that we have so if someone can put a mathematical formula in place then there won't be any arguements about who go's where and in what order. Feedback wanted.:bbb
Hopkins did NOT drop 2 dec to Taylor Taylor got gift decisions in both Watch the first fight at the bell Taylors corner looked dejected they knew they lost. When the ludicrous dec was announced look at Taylors face he couldnt believe it. Bernard is probably the besty middleweight champ EVER!! & is certainly ATG top 10
Of course it did he gasses after 4 rounds just like pascal, don't you think it's a bit of a coincidence that bhops opponents have all had stamina question marks
the difference is that JMM had just sparked out 2 guys that had never been ko'ed before and he was P4P # 3.....I dont think Oscar was on the P4P list when he fought Hopkins and Oscar got a gift decision vs Sturm.
The best MW champ in the worst MW era? Damn I guess V. Klit is the best HW ever?:yep he is nowhere near Top 10 ATG with 2 losses to Taylor, fighting Pavlik & Winky @ catchweights, losing to Joe calzaghe, losing to Chad Dawson, getting dropped twice by Pascal? lol..... lets not even bring up his 2 best wins being against Trinidad & Oscar.... People claim he is one of the best MW's ever but NONE of his best wins are vs MW'satsch
Oscar and Tito both came up and won belts at 160 where JMM was fighting his fist fight above 135 against Mayweather and was still cheated on the scales when Floyd went over the catchweight. Oscar, despite winning a title at 160, decided to fight Hopkins at a catchweight at 158 which was an attempt to drain Hopkins who was already a big MW. Despite all that Hopkins came in 2 lbs under the catchweight (a nice like '**** you' to ODLH) and then stopped him. Trinidad was undefeated and smashed Joppy before the Hopkins fight and was favoured to win against B-Hop (he was a 2-1 favourite). That is why Hopkins wins against those 2 are better than Floyd beating JMM. Hopkins' MW reign plus what he is doing right now puts him above Floyd and Pacquiao for me.
You can't just start isolated experience and use it against Hopkins as if it's an advantage he didn't earn. Size is something you don't earn. Power and speed are natural advantages. Experience is something you earn and make use of with your own intelligence. And it fails you if you're too old to execute. I simply think the more formidable fighters were the one Hopkins fought on the night. Pavlik may not be as historically great as Oscar, but on the night each of them were in the ring, there's not much separating them. Pavlik destroying Taylor was as good a win as most of Floyd's opponents had scored before fighting him. But there is a good deal separating that version of Tito and that version of Oscar. Again, put the two in a ring together from those nights and I don't think DLH comes out on top again. BHop's size advantage, which he didn't impose, was probably not a big a game changer as Tito's power had the potential to be. Then compare Hatton moving up to the bigger Tarver or Pascal, who had just come off a dominant win against Dawson. Corrales and Castillo are the next spots, and I'd say they can be compared to Hopkins' DLH win being that he came in light. IMO Hopkins beat the better men on the night with less advantages most of the time. He accomplished more, and is greater. For the same reasons I have Jones just ahead of him. "Factor everything" to me means nothing, who you beat is all that matters, how you go about it and for how long can only give you a boost.
