In some ways I'd hate to see a rematch as it was a truly awful fight...the feigning low blows, the holding, etc. etc.

If hopkins had done that to a prime jones the fight would've been close, so I think questioning joe's legacy because of a "close fight" against an "old man" who peaked at an old age anyway is very naive indeed...

On the other hand I'd love to see a rematch in Cardiff, just so that Joe could show the world what he could really do to Hopkin's, when there isn't the fighting at a new weight for the first time, in america, in vegas and all of the other factors that would've played on the mind. I think he'd win but when he did win it would do his legacy no favours as the haters would just argue a peak hopkin's would've beaten him, I don't know that this is true, but nonetheless what would be the point...Joe has plenty of money, why do it...there are no titles to be won, nothing to gain, and it's not like Hopkin's is a nice guy so should be given a second chance...

Joe is a legend and doesn't need to justify himself further, 45-0 and world champion for 10 years making among the most defences in history does the justifying for him.

If he does beat RJJ then I would love to see him fight dawson and win another world title and then retire.

Forget all the talk - all the shitty thought about what would happen if they fought a second fight... Bull****.. Boxing fans (on either one side of the planet or the other) should stick to reality - JC beat Bhop. Finito. If it wasn't for the 1 round knockdown (which was a pure perfect knock down) it would'nt have been a SD. BHOP got a dream start - and that was what happened. But he lost the fight. No **** no talk can redo that.. It was a shitty fight to watch - but it was expected..
We can always talk about - if- if- if - prime here and there ... If RJJ beats the hell out of JC then its impressive - but it doesn't take the greatness from JC - or the other way around - from RJJ... There is only 3-4 years of age between RJJ and JC - if JC beats RJJ then he owns his arse... Also in the history books... Forget all the **** talk... JC took the scalp of MK - and MK cannot change that without winning a rematch..... We should all try to stay to the facts (WHAT HAPPENED IN THE FIGHT - WHO WON - AND THEN NO EXCUSES). A mann like JC just deliveres (pretty or not / like him or not) - but he has a talent to always make the necessary different - and WIN. Many others also have that - but he is just much more speciel that average. He always find a way to win - he wins on good days - bad days - in fashion ways - in ugly ways... He has been in for many years, had many injuries like many boxers, had children, been married, been divorced etc. Been WBO champion for around 10 years - defeated his belt more that 20 times - had several fight againt unbeaten "young" champions and former world champions from all over the SMW division. - You can hate or dislike him for not being a rematch fighter and call him a bad sportsman - thats everybodys own choice. BUT REMEMBER - everybody - Eubank, Kessler, Hopkins (and everybody else who has been fighting JC) - had the change - had the "big" fight night with JC - to take him out once and for all.... Now look at the result.. Maybe it changes (this very next time) against RJJ maybe not .. I personally doubt - but I give RJJ a bigger change than hopkins winning a rematch.

Maybe JC is not a ATG - that I will not decide - I dont really care - I just love watching this guy (but he has never been a favorite to me), watch him winn. BUT if you cannot give him respect and credit for what he has performed until now - then you are disrespecting the boxing game and blinded by anger to a boxer who beat your favorite boxer (mine is MK). Open up the eyes all haters - and just stickt to reality. No talk - just the facts.

Looking forward to see the RJJ vs JC fight.... One thing is sure - the winner will be: THE BEST OF THE BEST

    Exactly man.

B-Hop is purely a defensive spoiler type fighter now. He no longer has the stamina, power etc. to go in there and bang with a guy, he relies on his experience and ring savvy to befuddle his opponent into submission.

If Hopkins went in for the KO he loses to anyone in the top 5 from Middleweight up. Possibly even top 10.

This suggests he believes Calzaghe will beat Jones, but hasn't he been saying otherwise recently? :hey

Pacfan, in all seriousness, Your obsession with Joe cries out for therapy of some sort.

He fought the guy already and beat him decisively in his own backyard with US judges and a US ref.

An overwhelming majority of posters responding to a poll on here after the fight agreed. This included many diehard Bernard fans who reluctantly came on and ate crow.

Does Joe haunt your dreams ?

Your posts are mostly reasonable, well thought-out and coherent whenever your subject is NOT CALZAGHE.

But on the Joe topic......... ?
