This is about Lucian Bute not some boxer who considers himself American. Bute considers himself Romanian, grew up on Romania, of Romanian parents. Just because he lived in Canada for a few years and gained citizen ship he isn't going to suddenly call himself Canadian. I'm sure if you said that to his face he would take your head off your shoulders and rightfully so. You clearly have little understanding of national identity and what comes with it. Go to Northern Ireland and tell some people they are British because they have British citizenship or vice versa with Irish and see what happens.

    Bernard is really getting Desperate!!!!!!!!!

thank you, that says it all. Bernard can talk all he wants in the third person (man he sounds like a twat when he does that) about being his own man, blah blah. At the end of the day his dignity is going out the window lately and he needs to shut up and retire with his truckloads of money and legacy intake

Quit arguing about his nationality, that's not the ****ing point.

This thread is about a man who's been hit too many times behind the head and now calls out everybody and their mom.

Well Hopkins opened his mouth and once again exposed his lack of geographical knowledge, I'm only commenting on his words in the thread title.

On the fight? Better than Haye, less chance of getting hurt though the idiocy coming from Hopkins ever since he left hospital suggests he might have suffered brain damage already which is very unfortunate.

He can call himself whatever the hell he wants. If he has Canadian citizenship, then he's Canadian. That doesn't mean mean he ceases to be Romanian. Now Hopkins called him Canadian, and he's another professional boxer. Let's see if Bute does something about it.

How the hell does calling him Canadian show his lack of geographical knowledge? You can play a game of semantics, but it's pretty clear that he wasn't mixing up where Canada and Romania are.

Bute has about as much to do with Pavlik as Calzaghe does. Bute has good movement and handspeed. He's the opposite of Pavlik.

Aside from the geography lesson. Bute may retre B-Hop, it's a case of Hopkins trying to cash in another big fight if he wins bonus, if he loses he was a 45 year old over the hill fighter that will probly do nothing bad for his legacy right?

I believe his point was making is that he would expose Bute and that Bute would be criticised and would resort to fighting lower level opposition afterwards.

Bute has no Canadian citizenship. But, as a Romanian I have nothing against being considered a Canadian also. He has the official permanent residency.
The big errror from BH is to consider himself as being young forever. If he fights Bute now he could find how the floor smells. And no one would wish this for him.

I'm sorry, but did you miss the part you got owned with wikipedia, boxrec, etc.? Bute is Romanian. I guess Hopkins can still turn him into a "Canadian Kelly Pavlik" (whatever the **** it means in Philadelphia), but after calling Calzaghe an Englishman and saying something about Jones-Green in England or Germany or what it was, I think it's safe to say BHop missed the geo class in the state pen. :thumbsup

How the hell did I get owned? I clearly stated that if Bute has Canadian citizenship, then he's Canadian. This is 100% fact. I know where the hell he was born and raised.

Nationality aside, this is a bad fight for Hopkins. Bute is essentially a younger, taller, bigger, and harder hitting Calzaghe. He doesn't use the same punching technique, but his hands are every bit as fast, his picks his shots very well, and he has tremendous pop.
