His explanation as to why his racist comment wasn't racist confirmed he is racist. Who cares, though? He is no politician. He is a professional athlete and certainly no role-model to anyone, on a personal level.... Yeah, he is great man for pulling himself by his shoe-strings, but so is every other nutty overachieving mass-murdering phsychopath! That doesn't make him good, nor does it make him a positive role-model. He is a great fighter and a great survivor, though, for better or worse. Let's concentrate on that for the time being.
"Where I'm from, in Nazi Germany, it's "unacceptable to lose" to a Jew or a black fighter"... "Where I come from, in Nazi Germany, in the Nazi Youth Special Schools and especially the Master Race training camps, I never saw a black face or a Jewish face. So it's unacceptable to me that a black guy or a Jew can defeat me after where I've had to drag myself to the top through."
**** that **** Reg:yep Wright is barely a notch below Farakahn. He made one specifically that basically said "where you find white people breeding you'll find the suffering of others" While that may not be word for word, the implication is undeniably RACIST. However,Wright and Hopkins are two different individuals with very different remarks and under extremely different context. I'll ride with Hop's, I'll run over Wright to see how far he fly's up in the air:yep
Racism is the believe that one race is inherently superior to another. Meaning that they are born better. Hopkins' explanation implies that blacks are not born to be genetically superior to whites in terms of boxing ability. He said it was a social commentary. Meaning that, from his prospective, white people weren't as into boxing as black people. Does this mean that blacks are naturally better at boxing? Of course not. However, if one race generally participates in a sport more so than another race, then one could assume that the more active race is generally better at that sport. For example, a white swimmer might grow up swimming without seeing many, if any, black swimmers. He might then assume that blacks aren't as into swinning as white people. As a result, they generally won't be as good. If this white swimmer comments that he would never lose to a black swimmer, it doesn't neccesarily mean that he's a racist. It could mean that he's simply making assumptions based on a built up stereotype. Stereotyping and racism are two different things. Trying to throw Nazi examples into your post was nothing more than a hollow, manipulation tactic.
I wasn't offended either but that's because I am not offended by racist language that comes from a group traditionally and usually discriminated AGAINST on the basis of its race.
I'm not a Wright fan, I don't even go to church. However, none of the quotes that I've seen from him were racist. If he did say what you posted, than that certainly could be construed as racist.
There's no color when the bell rings ladies and gentleman:good Its a huge waste of time arguing the BS. **** the race card! There's been great Champions from every race.
Someone obviously has never been to prison or never grown up in the ghetto. Go to any hood and ask anyone there what they would rather do, spend a night in prison or fight Calzaghe for a night...wanna bet ya dont get one voting for the clink? I came from and out of the hood (I was just smart enough and talented enough to rise above all that)....and let me tell you I WOULD FIGHT CALZAGHE to keep from going back. Fighting Joe Calzaghe is gonna be tough as hell (even if I am picking Bernard...Im no fool), but to say its tougher than prison??? atsch GEEEEEEEEEET THE **** OUTTA HERE!
