    You're missing the point.

Calzaghe didn't say Hopkins was low blowing him in the first or second round, and Hopkins was NOT.

The point is, that it's shameful for a world champion and supposed future HOFer to admit to intentionally hitting someone low, because he was knocked down.

    It's a ***** move.

I DON'T LIKE HOPKINS. I THINK HE'S A GREAT FIGHTER, BUT DO NOT APPROVE OF SOME OF HIS TACTICS. HOWEVER, JOE WAS OUT OF LINE HERE. VERY STUPID AND LOW CLASS OF HIM.

What amazes me is, none of the nuthuggers can just admit when Calzaghe does something that is obviously wrong...

to be fair Christian has a point about how nationality is usually less important to American boxing fans nowadays than British ones. that's not always the case, but i know that i do not feel some special connection or urge to root on a fighter just because he's American. it comes across, here at least, that many British fans feel differently. there's more to it than that and there are always exceptions, but that's how i feel

Sarcasm is subtle, some people just dont get it I suppose...

I'd say your being more of a ***** whining about it. Hopkins is no angel, before the fight he deserved to get his nuts punched, think of it as karma :good

A lot of Americans are also spoiled perfectionist shits, who think they somehow deserve things, because they're American.

They think that Americans are tougher soldiers, or smarter, or stronger, etc, and it's just not true.

So, you have Americans demanding undefeated "perfect" champions...and that's rare.

As I said, the nuthuggers (you) cannot admit when your beloved Calzaghe does something wrong.

fair point, but it dosent excuse the ''american-ship-jumping'' attitude that alot of the US fans ahve. Where are the Lacy fans now? Nowhere to be seen, where are the Hatton fans? 50,000 will be at his next fight, thats where.

Americans are not exclusive when it comes to hype trains. Duddy, Lee, Audley, and half the German fighters :yep are examples of fighters who were talked up and lost some support after a loss or even poor showing. Lacy is a different example and I don't feel like he ever had much traction outside of hardcore boxing fans like some of these other fighters (Duddy & Lee at least) do, but it happens.

Hatton is a superstar though. Lacy was big among American boxing fans at that time, but he got injured directly after that fight and has never been the same since. He was also never really in the public spotlight, which might say more abotu the state of American boxing (especially when compared to British).

I picked Calzaghe to win a narrow victory. I don't have much complaint with the decision. I'm not much of a fan of either fighter. Both have things that I don't particularly care for. Hopkin's mouth and Calzaghe's careful guided legacy. And, I don't think this was a particularly dirty fight. I've seen much worse.

But for Calzaghe to admit to intentionally fouling is black mark on his reputation. He's beginning to fall into the classless ***** category with that one.

No Americans outside of DIE HARD boxing fans had any clue who the hell Jeff Lacy was. They never heard of him.
