For the record I also think Calzaghe beat Hopkins clearly, but he definitely had the style (and skill) to do so. Hopkins is a great fighter and Calzaghe was a fine one too.
Hopkins robbed of history 2x. First to carry on his 21st defense as middleweight champ vs taylor. Even a draw would have kept the title for bhop, and tonight he would have been the oldest fighter ever to win a championship surpasing George Foreman. ****ing disgraceful.
I don't like the guy and I never will. His career at middleweight is overrated, but since moving up to light-heavy he's proven his brilliance, and at his age it's PHENOMENAL. The man is an inspiration, and as long as he doesn't open his idiotic mouth he will remain so.
Calzaghe beat Hopkins due to work rate/stamina, nothing else, and it was still super close. Nothing special about that.
Great fight and Hopkins is unreal. He became my fav fighter(or at least one of my top favs lol) yesterday with that gutsy performance. This fight reminded me of Mercado/Hopkins 1 when he came back from two kd's to get a draw in another man's hometown. The crazy part is....that was in '94 and he hasn't been down since yesterday! After the kd's it seemed like Hopkins pressed the action more and at times was taking Pascal to school. This fight reminds me of Whitaker/DLH were it was close though the older guy was still outlanding the younger one yet the older guy did more than enough to win imo. I'm glad he made up for his previous fights like he always does lol. Hard not to like Hopkins as a fighter after yesterday.
:good to be honest the fight was very exctiting to my surprise, hopkins fought like a champ instead of cowardly like he did vs jones. I was so happy for him but when the last card was announced I was affraid they would rob him, pascal also knew he lost, he was looking sad like hell, even the crowd switched to b-hop.
I didn't appreciate B-hop that much, but this last fight proved how wrong i was towards him. This guy deserves all the credit, he fought offensively to please the fans, chapeau monsieur! That's what boxing needs.
