thats bang out of order! Im off to start an new thread about how Manny OR Floyd is ducking the other - not sure who yet but im on to it! :yep
I can only agree, Hopkins should stay away from Haye for his own good, in any case Haye would never sign to fight him what is in it for him really beating an old man much smaller than him? not much glory in that...
Yes Hopkins is a legend but way too many people take Joes achievements away from him - nobody seems to think the American big boys ducked him, but the other way around. He never got beaten - lets all accept that with broken hands and his "slaps" he still dominated fighters.... FACT! I've never really been a massive Calzaghe fan, but respect is one thing I do have for him, lets let the hate stop please.
What has he done that exemplifies physical strength? He is an outside fighter, who suffers when pressured. Fragomeni was pushing him back for most of their fight.
I think he still does, just respect on a sportsmanship type level. Another possiblity is that with the recent Lacy lost last year and RJJ and Kessler this year he may be hyping up the win a little bet, but I'm just going to assume its sportsmanship respect.
Good on Calzaghe for calling Hopkins a legend. It's nice to see a boxer putting personal animosity side and giving a guy the credit he is due, because it's clear there was bad blood between them back in the day. For what it's worth, I am a massive Hopkins fan (obviously) but I agree with Joe this time, Haye would be a bridge too far for Bernard now. I thought Haye was poor against Valuev, but he is still too big and powerful for a past-prime B-Hop. Hopkins should fight Adamek at cruiser then retire.
