I don't see why people from certain islands are so obsessed with Calzaghe.

How can you ***** about Hopkins's record, to use it as a reason for Calzaghe being better?

Maybe yall are right, maybe Hopkins's record isn't as impressive as some think. But if we're going to start dissecting people's records - then you need to take a good look at Joe Calzaghe. Who has beat one top fighter, EVER: Mikkel Kessler

..that is, we THINK he might have beat one top fighter. But we're not sure, because Kessler has never beat any top fighters, he's had impressive performances against some fighters, just like Calzaghe, but nobody that we know too much about.

I love how the original poster in this thread bitches about Hopkins losing to Roy Jones, and fighting smaller men, then says Hopkin's DOMINANT performance over the man who KNOCKED OUT ROY JONES and was considered the much bigger man in his fight with Hopkins, and was the favorite going into the fight. And he was even knocked down by Hopkins, which I guess maybe happened because Hopkins was running, and maybe Tarver lost his balance trying to chase him.

Hopkins is an amazing boxer with near flawless technique and amazing ring intelligence. Even at the EARLIEST stages of his career when h wasn't even all that good, he managed to give Roy Jones a very hard fight, and even land big straight right hands on him during the later parts of the fight. Something that nobody else did to Roy until more than 10 years later.

How can you criticize Hopkins for fighting boring fights, getting knocked down, etc etc., when Calzaghe makes tons of mistakes, including the worst of all, underestimating his opponents. And then of course there are of course the backhands and slaps he throws, his lack of real defense aside from his reflexes, leaving himself open to punches that Stevie Wonder could see coming when he starts throwing!

While i dont quite agree with all your assesments of Calz I do agree that he is no ring legend either , in fact both mens careers are smilar in that respect.
