Really good story. That is a great thing Hopkins did for that kid.

 

I love how in promotions for fights, he acts like a complete dick, calculated - to sell tickets.

He takes a lot of flack for it, and if he wanted to he could say "Look at me, I'm really a nice guy - look what I did for this kid!"

But he doesn't, the important stuff... he just does on his own, without fanfare. Very cool. Floyd Mayweather is the same way, he gives back TONS to Grand Rapids Michigan. More than enough to make up for any kind of bad reputation he has amongst boxing fans and the media.. but he never mentions it. Every now and then he'll say something real brief about the Floyd Mayweather Foundation, but never goes into "look how great I am mode", except when he's selling a fight.

Poor kid. Awesome to see his wishes coming through though, its easy to think of Hops as a bit of a clown from his typical antics, but its great to see a much more serious side. Class act.

 

doesn't really fit with the overall consensus view that Hopkins is an arse. I've always thought he was an arse, and still do. A few nice quotes and a couple of visits to a sick kid does not suddenly make someone a 'class act' or whatever it is you guys are obsessed with.
