Listen to the way he explains things here. For a youngster, having things broken down concisely by someone like Hops would be great. He has a lot to offer the game & I would love to see him become a trainer. [YT]JXzjj7f5Yno[/YT]
I don't know about it. He's very smart, but still, how many great boxers turn out to be great trainers?
He doesn't have to be a main trainer though, just having him alongside an expereinced coach would do.
He's very, very smart about fighting, but he's said himself he'd be rubbish, and so did his manager. He wouldn't be a good trainer because he would expect to much from his man and to soon. Forgedaboud it.
True. Look at Leonard....I've actually been saying for years that Hopkins what make an excellent commentator. I'd much rather see him on B.A.D. or HBO championship boxing than Lennox Lewis. I think he'd be a colorful guy to add to HBO or even Showtimes commentating team.
He's got enough money he will not have to be a trainer. Most great trainers are in it for the money, so they have to be good.
Could be communication issues. If they team him up with a translator for *******ised English I'm all for it.
That was a thoroughly entertaining little session there. He has the knowledge and would be able to articulate it to his fighter. The question is how he'd handle when his fighter wasn't doing what he wanted.
Yes he spoke clearly & concisely. Hopkins is a man who is confident with his words as well as in his ability. Would definitely make a good trainer even if he wasn't the main cornerman.
But I'm not talking about guys that boxed in the ammys, or were decent pro fighters. I mean great professional fighters. They tend to not do well because, as said before, they expect too much. It's hard for them to realize that other guys can't do what they did.
