What is going on? at 47 he has no right to being in the ring, where is the duty of care? he needs to be protected from himself, he is years past his best, but if you throw money at people they will pick it up, I refuse to buy his fights for every reason.
It is hard to say. Hopkins' longevity is already incredible. He looks after himself very well. This might be the turning point where his age catches up with him. Or his excellent fitness could see him through the injury very quickly. I don't like Hopkins, and I don't get why so many people give him a free pass for cheating. Still, I think he has earned the right to end his career in a different way than this last fight.
Hopkins should just have an easier farewell fight and call it quits. He's breaking down and is a small fraction of what he used to be. He can't sustain any real attack these days, doesn't have the same crisp or snappy punches, and looks sloppy later in fights. No need to keep pushing it and wait until he takes a real beating. And no need to keep seeing him fall to the canvas in an effort to get points taken away/buy time (while robbing paying fans at the same time). He had a legendary career, but he ought to retire soon.
Hopkins needs to retire if he is so delicate that he can't take a little fall. That is really unbelievable. Hopkins looked to hit the ground with almost no force. Maybe he can go train with these little kids. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qc93mrEus6s&feature=related[/ame]
